Bit of a random one, my bf was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis about 2 n ahalf years ago. Was just wondering if anyone on here has it or knows of anyone with it?
We're quite clued up on it now and try the best we can to control it

Re: Ulcerative Colitis

I did do hun, but they don't really seem too interested. I had never been admitted overnight into a hospital and they put me on the surgical ward - people kept crashing!!
hope you find out whats up! did you mention in the hosp the UC?

Re: Ulcerative Colitis
Awh thanks :)

Chris' Granda also had UC but was VERY old and sadly died in hospital after an Op. not sure which op it was. this goes through Chris' mind when hes in hosp but he understands the age difference obv makes a big difference.

its such a cruel disease and strips peoples dignity although its not that well known yet.
Apparently, it runs in the family. Which kinda scares me as I've been having a lot of gastro problems - beginning of February I felt so ill with terrible stomach pains and couldnt keep food down as it was burning my stomach and intestines. I left it for a day, but the next night, I stayed at a friends house and within an hour, I had gone from being able to keep a biscuit down to not even being able to digest water - it just came straight back up. So I drove to the hospital (risky but I didnt fancy going by ambulance and leaving my car!) where they admitted me and said they thought it was gall stones. I was in for 4 days, cannulated and put on a drip, the mere mention of a catheter made me move quickly though lol. Anyways, I had an ultrasound, chest and abdo x-rays and a bugger load of bloods done but they were inconclusive the only thing that was showing abnormal was my WBC (whte blood cell) count. It was 16 :\

I was let out of hospital on day 5, with the diagnosis of gastroenteritis and they gave me two types of anti-sickness drugs. But since then, I have still been having trouble with stomach pains and the same problem has arisen in the past 2 weeks with my stomach where it burns to eat and my abdomen is making me look like I'm 9 months!! I visited the doc last week and he put me on Metoclopromide for a week which has made it a bit better, but gave me mouth ulcers :( however now I have stopped the metoclop. it's coming back.

Sorry to take over your post by the way, It's just a worry with UC :\

Diet seems to play a huge part init and hes has to avoid dairy much to his sadness as he LOVES cheese and milkshakes bless him!

Thanks for the reply. think i just needed to have a little rant as i have to be there for him all the time which of course i would never complain about or begrudge him but sometimes i want to vent and i cant to him as its his illness bless him!
