We have open surgeries 9am - 10am, appointments 3pm - 4pm and open surgery 6pm - 7pm.

Saturdays are 9am - 10am and 12 -1 open surgery. Our OOH provider takes over at 2pm.

Sundays we have a semi emergency opem surgery from 10am. We ask clients to be waiting at the surgery if they require the service.

Clients are free to pick up food/meds ordered outside the opening times if they ring the doorbell. (My reasoning is that if they don't ring the bell then one day we won't see them arrive if we're all in theatre)

Mon to fri open at 8.30 for admits. Consults 9-11 then again 3-7. normally have 2 vets 1 consulting while the other operates 3 nurses am and 2 pm

Open at 8.30 for collection of meds/food Saturday 12-1 then 3-5, 1 vet so ops done between 1-3 if there are any 1 nurse all weekend

sunday 9-10 at branch surgery then over to main surgery for 11-1 then 3-4.

no OOH or night duty as this covered by Vetsnow

We consult 9-11.30, 2-3 and then 4-6.30 we have 2 vets consulting in the morning one at the 2-3 slot and then 2-3vets consulting in the evening depending on how many vets are in.

Nurse consults run 10-12.30, 2-4.30 then 5.30-6,

We find that evening surgery is usually packed but no talks as yet to extend our opening times, we close at 7pm

Our last appt is 6pm weekdays but we are there until half 6 for people to pick food/meds up etc. On a Saturday we have routine booster appts from 9-10.15, and then emergency appts from then until 12.30. Sundays we're closed.

I locumed at a place where the last consult was 9.15pm and this late evening slot was always most popular. The nurse on this shift worked 1-10pm so the extra 3/4hr was tidying up/ restocking etc. It was a busy practice so although it spread the consults out, they were still at a steady pace and you didn't get a huge gap in the late afternoon for instance waiting for people. Also this practice didn't cover their own OOH so these appts would generally be for more routine consults (unless emergencies happened) just so there were enough staff to deal with them. This worked mostly, but there was still a fair few late xrays/RTAs/caesars that turned up....

Our last appointment during the week is 6:30, but don't close til 7 so can (and regularly do) book another couple if things really need to be seen that day.

Saturdays first consult is 9:30am, but we save the first 2 slots for emergencies to be booked on the day only - but then open til 4 - we try to book these in consecutive order (the idea being the afternoon is then free for any procedures that need to be done) but often end up consulting through the afternoon.

Not open sundays but it has been suggested by some of the vets that we should have an hour of urgent consults only in the afternoon - for things that are not 'emergencies' but can't wait until the monday morning either. I think this is a good idea.

I think whatever the consulting hours are, there will always be come clients that it doesn't suit!

We open 8-8pm with consults basicly all day with gaps 1030-11, 1-2, 5-530 then evening finishes at 730 but consults usually run on till 8.

Sats are 9-4 with consults 9-11 and 2-330 with our own out of hours.No Sun

We have 5 vets with one vet off a day and two vets consulting and two vets operating!

And nurse consults run along side these times too!
