And want a retainer

Re: ooh retainer pay

[quote user="sarahpearce81"]

We do a 1:4 rota, and are on call. Retainer for weekday is £30 per night, and £70 per weekend, if we get called out then we have a set call out fee, regardless of whether we are there 5 minutes or 5 hours. We get paid for every inpatient check aswell. Works well for our practice!

Definately think you should pursue the retainer fee, you are being relied upon to be available, on the day/nights you are on call, meaning you are very limited on what you can do, and where you can go. You have a very good argument to put forward! Good luck

Thats a reasonable retainer fee.

We do not have OOH as such just a Duty shift which is basically an inpatient check. We get £10 regardless of if there are any inpatients just for the fact we might have to stay late and 'normal time' for when we do check them. This is the same fee for the weekends. Although at the lower end of the scale, the nice thing is if you have no inpatients, you know you will not have to go in or get called so can do anything! yah. only know for sure at 7pm that night though when vets now take over!

Re: ooh retainer pay

We do a 1:4 rota, and are on call. This has recently changed, used to be £30 for the weekend and no nurse on call during the week, managed to negotiate an increase when they introduced the weeknight nurse on call.

Re: ooh retainer pay

We get a fee if we are called out but nothing for simply being on call.
I work for a big company- the plus side of this is that each nurse only has to be on call for a total of two weeks a year in two one week blocks- The minus side is you can be 'called in' to cover staff sickness or busy times etc. as well as for reasons of emergency when it is your on call week.

Re: ooh retainer pay

we get £10 retainer for a weekday and £20 for a weekend day and bank holiday, so if im on call on a weekend, which consists of the fri,sat and sund, then i can get £50 for sitting at home, if i get called out then i get an hourly rate for time at surgery, this has only just come about as we were literally doing a w, end for no pay and no hourly rate if called out.we asked around to see what other practises were getting and in our area , west sussex this seemed to be the norm!!!

Re: ooh retainer pay

We do not get one, but we do not have to do in patient checks so it is just sitting around wondering if the phone will ring, which is never does!
