I was really really miserable in my old job and felt very stuck as not that many jobs around my area and didn't want to be away from home so locuming wasn't a great option. But I managed to get one not too far from where I live and I am sooooo much happier! Didn't realise just how unhappy I was until I left!

Keep your eyes peeled, write to local practices and think of all options and get out of there! Life is too short to be unhappy! XxX

Oh hon i'm sorry to hear you're not happy You are a FANTASTIC nurse, a lovely person, and so very caring (i will never forget how lovely you were when Smudge died...thank you)...please do not leave the profession, if you did it would be a huge loss. It sounds like you need to get out of where you are, it seems like they're just using you...don't stay where you aren't happy! Locum for a bit, even if it's only short term. You can then keep your eyes pealed for other jobs in the area. I presume you still live in the same place? If so, i'll keep my ears/eyes open for you. Take care xxx

Another thing - you might find that when you tell them you are leaving they will realise what you put in and try to help...

Katie, you sound very dedicated to your current role but don't appear to be getting the credit for your work. Have you requested feedback from your interview and any advice from your current practice on how you can improve or gain promotion?

Dont stay there if its making you that unhappy- life too sort - been there done that and it didnt get any better for me. I think youre better off starting afresh. Im sure theres a new opportunity just waiting for you. Chin up!

why not try locuming for vets now then you can see what its like, n if its suitable.

Hun ive tried stacking shelves n i lasted 6mths not good, i take my hat off to people that do stick with it but it made me realise my love for vet nursing n ended up working for vets now, that was 3yrs ago n i havent looked back.

Think it sounds like you have made the decision its time for a change.

I'm sorry to hear you are having such an awful time! It's such a difficult situation to be in. Do you get on with the HN? Is there anyone above her that you could talk to? Its a bit one sided of them, not seeing you fit enough to be deputy HN but then letting you cover in her abscence?!

You need to weigh up the pros and cons of staying there - I know it seems daunting but if you are going home every day in tears is it not worth taking a gamble and locuming nearby for a while and keeping an eye on any other vacancies that come up in your area?

With your experience you may find a HN role in another practice where you can start anew?

I'm not sure that has helped but wanted to show some support. I am lucky to not have those sort of problems but I do empathise
