The best dictionary to get (or really the one i used & still use the most) is an orange one - I think the title is something somple like "DIctionary for Veterinary Nurses". It only cost about £20 and I found it more useful than the Saunders

Is it an up to date one? if not get an up to date one. and make sure it is a veterinary one, you will get all your info in there on loads of things, dont worry that it has a lot of farm equine, it should still have everything else definition wise too.

I bought 'Black's' Student vet dictionary but it has more info on farm/equine.

Buy a veterinary dictionary..... they are very handy, and I still use mine a lot!

i'm with Fi too. also with a book you could get a picture or diagram which will help you more with remembering stuff.

When you really can't find an answer or it's an awkward portfolio thing or you don't understand the definition you've found we're more than happy to help but something like that is so simple to find out for yourself. We've all been there.

What would you have done if the internet didn't exist?

Funny thing is you don't actually need a dictionary when you have the internet - because it's got about 100million dictionaries to look through... even just typing "define: malocclusion" into Google search engine gives you about 15 different wordings of it!

Sorry Sophie, I'm on Fi's "side" also - how do you expect to learn anything if you don't have to look for the answers every now and again!

Sophie - I'm not sure about the attitude thats coming through on your posts - maybe its the way that your phrasing things that getting my back up!

I think you could have found out more about malocclusion from looking it up and reading about it - not just sticking a post up here.

You've now called me rude and told me I have nothing nice to say - when I've not actually said anything detrimental. As a newbie on the site, stuff like that will annoy folks and you will not get the help you are looking for, when it comes to the big stuff that you can't find the text books........ like how to manage people!

Everyone on here is allowed a personal point of view but the fact that 2 other members have stated that they agree with my post, should make you think that maybe studying is better than flinging insults in my direction.

I completely agree with Fi, I work with vet students and they would get a similar response from me if they asked anything like that, I always had to find things out on my own and it hasnt done me any harm and find that those things have stuck in my head for longer than the things people have told me

Ive got 'The complete textbook of vet nursing' i refer to that a lot, but there was no defintion in there.

If youve got nothing nice to say, dont reply back. Cos it wasnt helpful at all

Not being rude just find it odd that you can take the time to type a new post & question on here, when it would have been much quicker getting your dictionary out and looking it up. You keep the information in your brain at lot longer too, when you've taken the time to find out for yourself. You got the same response all my students would get and I don't think any of them think I'm rude. Sorry if you didn't like my advice but you have to take the good with bad on this site......if you don't want advice, don't post a question.
