I think it is hard to put into words sal. Like i can't say i feel apart of the UK cos i don't, I have never felt British, even living in England for a year did nothing but make me more proud to be Scottish and feel more different if you like.

Some English people don't like the Scottish and some Scottish dnt like the English, its a strange old world and is something that cnt really be explained!

Hahahahaha - spoken like a true English woman. That's what I always felt - England, Scotland, etc - we are all just one big "super country" - the UK. Scotland never really felt 'different' to England - until I moved to Scotland. The Scots are obsessed with this difference. We might not recognise them as different to us but they certainly see themselves as different!

I reckon its good that there are opinions on the old political issue-shows people are interested in the country which in my humble opinion has got to be better than apathy surely.

And if we all agreed/had the same opinion then there would be no need for an election!

why does it have to be a cultural divide in politics.... sorry I have not read all of this thread and if it has been resolved then I apologise.... but what is getting my goat is the Scottish contingent speaking for the Scots....... sorry but we are not all labour lovers, and can actually see them for the overspending pension stealing , debt ridden party they are.... yes Thatcher was hated... and I suspect in Loupylous point of view, hated through the generations.. because you are clearly not old enough to remember her actual reign as it were.... yes there were cuts... but they were actually necessary to get the economy back on track( we were in debt then too) and yes it was LABOUR that got us into "said debt".... so the tories are yet tightening our belts for the greater good of the overspend of the labour government. And as for the SNP.... how much did that overpaid!!!!! leader spend on lunch, ..... sandy thom...... and that hideous building!???? Yeah I respect your point Sandra. I disagree Labour got us into the debt that we are in tho, a recession was rpedicted for years and like most things theres highs and lows and an economy is no different.

Yeah your right, I was 1 when thatcher left power but am not an idiot and I have read what she did to this country and read other things which make me believe that Scotland as a country is better of without England. Just my opinion am not tryign to ram it down peoples throats as it were. I am proud to be Scottish (Scottish before am British, in my head anyways) and always will be, but have to admit that once i have my degree (2 years woohoo) am getting the hell out this country and heading as far away as possible!! I would probably return tho, if independence happened.

Totally respect your opinion thogh Sandra, and that is all I have voiced and as its a forum, am allowed to do that at least!! Am young and idealistic, what can I say?

I totally agree with you Sandra, not everyone is of the one opinion, personally I dont want independance. I am old enough to remember the Thatcher days but like you am lookin forward to the new government. It was a uk election and the tories got the most votes so lets see what they can do x

Would never happen of course. But you can understand why the english don't understand why us scottish are annoyed by the tories being in. I think mainly cos most English wanted them in and secondly well they werent in scotland in the thatcher days! (yes we/i should get over it!!)

I think lib dems will lose a few seats in the next election, most people feel betrayed! Can you blame them?

I do like how torys gave the scottish mp position to a lib dem rather than there one tory, nice move!! When it all goes wrong lib dem will be getting the blame! Don't you just love cameron? NOT!

Independent Scotland, sooner rather than later me thinks!!

lol.. yeah I understand what you mean!! I'm definitely very proud to be welsh and I speak it fluently :) ... I remember when England played against Wales in the Rugby.. Wales won, and I wouldn't let my husband forget it for weeks haha!! not in a nasty way though.. joking kinda way!! he wasn't amused though!! lol
