I got 'caught' out in a similar way at an interview a few years back... promised evrything that sounded good that a nurse can/should do and in real life felt like I wasn't doing anything nursey at all... no catheters, no nurse consults, no blds etc etc ... the head nurse did everything and because she had been there a while, no-one else was trusted.. and I was an experienced nurse.. and they advertised for an experienced nurse (What they needed one for I don't know!) .... the HN was only interested in herself doing stuff and getting credit for it so wasn't any help... anyway I gave up trying to do stuff and got out.... but I felt really conned and frustrated..... I'd talked to people who worked there, the practice manager seemed upfront about everything at the time, been in for half a day to see what went on etc etc. I always felt cos I'd worked in quite a few practices that I actually go in and interview them now, if that doesn't sound to cocky! but this time it didn't work.

What I'm trying to say is that sometimes you just have to accept that things aren't what they seem and just move on.... You can talk to people who work there, go in and spend some time there, ask and ask what they allow/ expect nurses to do and if it sounds ok, go for it... if not don't.

Good luck!
