Hes a very mischievous man, lol!!

I have lost count of the amount of times I've seen nurses randomly strip!! Worst though is hen a member of the public in that is swarming in them, consequently so are they, but I just don't have the guts to tell them what they are as try try to swat them off - won't work buddy!!!

If anyone did that to me I'd freak. I have been known to run out the back door screaming when I had one fly at me - any other bugs fine but not these.

I have loads of swifts by me - they play with my dog when he is running in the fields, they swoop down at him then fly off - drives him nuts!!

I would go mental!! lol I'm not really bothered by bugs but they are the exception! Think it's because they follow you and yuck yuck yuck!

Where I live there are always swifts flying up and down the high street screaming like they do. They nest in the cattle market building. You see them swooping in and out. So cool.

Have (or maybe used to!) swifts nesting in most of the eves in houses down my street but........ over the winter, many of them have been re-roofed. My side of the street is blocks of 4 terraced houses in a row and since I've lived here (12yrs) they have always come back on +/_ 1st May(today- have seen the 1st ones) and left on +/- 1st August.

Alot of the houses are council houses and they have all been re-roofed completely so I am assuming all the nests have been destroyed.... I thought this was illegal but apparently it is only this during the nesting season!

The houses have now got a lining underneath the slates, where as it just use to be slate so I'm thinking that access to under the eves has been stopped!

I am so mad about it but what can you do? Over the last few years the numbers seem to have got less and some nests are pulled down by people as they are being built

About 3 years someone was doing an on-line swift survey that I filled in but didn't hear anything else about it.... I love swifts but this year will be very sad that most of them who have made thier journey from Africa will have had their nests destroyed! Will have to wait and see what happens.

I think I might have them nesting in my roof.

It's either them or housemartins, not quite sure cos the little things are so fast!
