The nurses in my practice also can do 2nd vaccinations and boosters
I thought the rules had changed on boosters some time ago? I know 2nd vacs are ok because the pet will have recently been checked by a vet but unless the pet has been examined by a vet and the booster okd I was under the impression that nurses no longer gave boosters.?? You have got me wondering now!

Re: Nurses clinics

The nurses in my practice also can do 2nd vaccinations and boosters

Re: Nurses clinics
Hey, sounds like you are running the most popular ones already. Im busy trying to set up an adolscent clinic too. It is to try and bridge the gap between 10weeks and their annual booster at a year. It will cover neutering, diet, behaviour etc - basically everything!
We do an adolescent health check clinic and started by inviting the animals back at 6 months - like you say, to bridge the gap - but have recently found that by 6 months there are already behaviour issues starting or obesity or bitches have started a season so have brought this forward to 4-5 months.

This seems to be much better - both dogs & humans are still learning from each other, so its easier to stop bad habits from forming.

Its also very good to bring up insurance - our free cover is usually just coming to an end when they come in for the clinic and parasites - again free treatment will just have stopped.

Our AHC bring in a lot of revenue - usually leave with op booked, parasite treatment, microchip, id tag, toys, etc - value for each clinic is approx £40-60 with potential of £100-200 with op booked - even though this is a "free" check!

The geriatric clinics involve discussing weight ann diet, exercise, arthritis and kinda all the options treatment wise, as well asa general health check - ears, teeth, claws etc. Alot of the people who on old dogs are a little older themselves and so cant manage alot of these things, so the clinic is just there to help them keep on top of it all and discuss any issues they have.

Hope that all helps. Oh and before I forget alot of the food companies have loads of info packs to help you set up these kinda clinics, which can be a really good starting place.

Re: Nurses clinics
We run a urinanalysis, check teeth, nails and talk about mobility, senality, nutrition, we also talk about euthanasia and options for disposal if appropriate. We also check they're up to date with wormers and vaccinations. We run ours every 6 mths then the vets have them every 6mths for b/v and a health check.

We also run rabbit clinics. You've covered most clinics already.
