having said that i would NEVER EVER EVER use one as sole monitoring- nothing can replace a stethoscope- you don't hear crackles, arrythmias or beat quality with a pulse ox and if you did, it would prob be wrong. i only use it as a guide for sp02

Re: Pulse ox

Hi. I looked on amazon but they're finger pulse ox's. what bit if the animal do you stick in???! Ours in the clinic is broken. I never rely on it, but the vets like to have it there, so this kind of cheapywould be ideal, but it confused me how you use it on dogs and cats! Am I just being blonde???

Re: Pulse ox

Try your local equipment companies before you buy - we had about 4 on loan last year, when we were looking to buy and the cheaper were really sh*t! We would've bought one for a couple of hundres but the readings they gave were way off!! It might seem crap but go for a dearer one - you certaily get what you pay for!

Re: Pulse ox

I was amazed to find that Amazon are doing them dirt cheap. I know they're human ones but coming from a practice with the boss not wanting to spend any money on equipment, I think he might be persuaded to part with £30 for one.

We've never had one at our current practice, along with no resp monitor, no capnograph, no ultrasound, no endoscope and no lab equipment! You can usually pick up some discounted items at these places. Otherwise you could contact suppliers as occasionally they will sell old and ex-display units for a cheaper price

Re: Pulse ox

[quote user="Kim Blowing RVN"]
