Can anyone recommend any good insurance companies that won't break the bank to insurance me and my

Re: Travel Insurance

They claim that he deliberately threw himself off of the balcony... despite several doctors confirming that his injuries were consistent with that of someone who had been sleepwalking - he wouldn't have survived if he was aware of what he was doing as his body would have tensed up. They are still fighting it so hopefully it will get sorted or else unfortunately his family face losing their home. I'm not sure what AXA are like generally... but this has definately put me off of using them!

AXA underwrite alot of insurance policies dont they?

Re: Travel Insurance

I use Endsleigh but I've thankfully never had to make a claim so can't really comment on them. Not the cheapest cover by any means but looking at their policy they seem to cover for alot. Depends what kind of holiday you're likely to have... if you're going diving or ski-ing or anything like that you want to take that into account as you'll want a policy that will cover the costs of anything dramatic... like getting the bends then having to be flown at low altitude in a helicopter to be put into a decompression for days and days, before being flown home again... as you can imagine these kind of costs run into their millions and your bog-standard policy probably wouldn't cover the whole cost. Obviously an extreme example but you get where I'm coming from! Personally I am a bit insurance obsessed and always try and cover for everything I'm likely to do, so I can just go on holiday and enjoy myself! Having said that, for 'beachy' holidays where you're not intending on doing anything too strenuous then there's not much point in getting a high activity cover.

Also, just a word of warning, I'd steer clear of AXA: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=257594338759&v=info&ref=ts this guy fell 7 storeys off a balcony in Mexico, was in a coma, is learning to walk again but AXA won't pay anything! So personally I'm boycotting them on moral grounds... not sure if it's just this poor guy that they are treating like that but I don't want anything to do with them. (And I have told them so...)

Have a great holiday :D

Best piece of advice I can give is not to go with the name that the policy is advertised with but the name of the underwriting insurer. If it is a well known name they will have a good claims service and more likely to deal with any complaints effectively. So if you have never heard of them don't use them.
