One of my mates is getting married on Saturday and is due to be going on honeymoon on Monday, not sure if its going to happen as they are staying that they think by the end of the week that it will have moved down south again

My sis is stuck in mexico, she has to wait until 5th may before they can get her home, shes loving it!!!! They have put her up in a hotel full board, i wish i was stuck there!!!

bbc has stories of people who willb e waiting up to a month to get back, think there in bangkok and miami tho

My friends daughter is in China on a school trip. They have been trying to get home since last friday and still have no word. Although she is fourteen, her mum is still worried. BA are paying to keep them all in their current hotel. Her mum recently sent more money to her via the school. She was on London tonight a few days ago on a video link.

would tend to agree with you - rail system in most of europe is a lot better than we could even dream of in this country, same with bus service in many places. it might take a bit of ingenuity but it is possible. (this is from somebody who is not that keen on flying and travelled extensively around europe with few problems )

my mum works at travel shop at the airport and the friday she was told to go home after 2 hours. yesterday she was forced to take day off as a lieu day which she not happy about, and any time they have missed they have to make it up another time, again my mum not happy bout this cos she only works evening and has no other time to make it up cos of young kids....The airport is dead, airport taxi firms are packing up and going home cos they have no jobs to do...

As for the food grown abroad... why does it have to go to waste?? They can eat it surely, it wont do us any harm to go without fruits and stuff for a while... lol

to be honest at first i thought it was all quite funny, and was thinking all the people kicking off were a bit daft, but then when you hear about transplant ops not going ahead, airlines and all the people associated with travel including the shops could be losing thier jobs, the people who grow all the food for us having to chuck it all away.

it aint good.

think ill still be laughing at some people though

omg!! how awful !!! Wonder how many people are in the same situation... I heard the navy are stepping in to help bring some people home - I'd hope they priorotize and help the people in your friends situation first!

it's scary how much we rely on air travel but from an enviromental point of view this is great for the plannet!!

People are getting a full refund on their flights not too sure about holidays tho i don't disagree there, its not youir fault or the companys

Steph, the flights arent flying doesnt mean money saved as every flight that don't fly loses them money, and some airlines are rpedicted to go bust if this continues. Think how many people have not to got their flight, the comp would be too great to be fair!

I believe that staff are sent home but with pay but who knows, nobodys fault except the volcanos lol!!
