anyway i'd better get my finger out, as i have been enrolled for 2 years in Oct 2010, and they want to charge me the difference between my fee and the current fee if i have not done it by then, i thinkit's the big red folder putting me off again. i can't even be bothered to read it!!

100% correct Jewel. I took amtra advice and dumped all but the legislation notes and the parasitology. You should also study the small legislation booklet that arrived.

There was a few questions about things outside of legislation and parasitology ie how long is a bitch pregnant and is a mouth part of circulation or digestion. The bulk was the parasite and law side though. As a hint study the test questions and their answers very good idea of what you will get.

hi, i have registered with amtra, through harper - adams. i have a big red folder full of very basic notes, i have had it now for a bit. is it me or is there no course structure?

can any of you qualified c-sqps' offer any guidance on how you studied for this, i may be being dense, but do you just read the file and turn up for the exam???

Just to clarify there is no reason why a charity nurse needs this less ( or more) than a private practice nurse. Its pretty much up to the individual or the workplace to decide if they want it. I am planning to do mine on april 2nd at Harper adams but its not compulsory I just wanted the CPD and thought it might be handy to have

Correct only use amtra approved course they have so far been free but l have had about 2 weeks notice for mine so no chance in hell. Thats why l asked if course providers can apply for aproval the info is on the website under l think cpd.

I am not happy l got it the only reason l did was l was told it was going up, we had to get it and that it was changing from a 2hr easy to a full day grotty exam. And that l can now order stuff from nvs/dunlops etc.however l have never bothered to do that.

hi, I have my cSQP as well, feel the same as the rest of you, cant do much with it. Also, have I understood correctly that we have to do separate CPD and cant use what we would for nursing as you have to collect points from AMTRA approved courses.

i was thinking about doing it last year, but it was a toss up between this and congress, i went for congress looks like i made the right desision.

i was looking on the web site and its now £200 to do the course. When some of my nurse friends did it they got it for free. I was made to believe it was a necessity in private practice but sounds like you cant do anything else. I take it it is just for the likes of frontline and drontal. which is only a very small spectrum in the whole flea/ worm trade. Will maybe think about doing that at a later stage then if not really needed

Hi there- ive got my c-sqp qualification, and i have to say am quite disappointed with it!

There isnt a lot more that you can do with it- you are technically them allowed to prescribe and dispense items such as frontline spot on and panacur! So still not allowed to dispense routine preventative flea preps such as advocate/advantage etc!

The course itself was very easy ( didnt have to really revise for the exam) it was more of a reminder re life cycles and regulations on dispensing and drug catergories.

We were all really disappointed when we did our training as we assumed it would be easier to dispense medication- but we were very wrong!

www.amtra.org.uk is a good place to start. If you can't find the answer to your question then give them a call as they are very helpful.
