We got to go to the zoo for the day and see behind the scenes. Is something I would LOVE to do but it's so hard to get into as so many people want to do it. I applied to do a two week stint at london zoo as work experience but they couldn't do the dates I was free. I think you've got a much better chance of getting noticed if you have experience and happen to hear about positions as they come up. Good luck!

Re: Zoo training

For a keeper or nurse?

I had a few interviews at Twycross following a month with the elephants in Sri Lanka, they have a lot of trainee keeper positions come up. The feedback I got from my first interview was that I lacked in experience but they were interested in seeing me for a couple of other interviews on different sections, of which I was ''pipped at the post'' twice again. They were very happy to take me on as a volunteer, during this time I was advised about further positions about to come up, but by this time I'd managed to get my current job and my volunteering's sort of stopped since starting my ANA (although I plan to start again once finished).

But yeah, if you can get some volunteering done, combine it with a nice, long holiday like I did(!!!), then they're more likely to take notice of your CV and subsequently you're more likely to get a 'foot in the door'.

If you meant nursing I'm probably not fantastic for advice, however the Nursing Times had a nice article on Twycross' resident nurse about 12 months ago, see if you can did that out, it'll give you more of an idea of what's involved and how to go about it. I'm aware that London Zoo do courses for veterinary nurses which may also be worth having a gander at.

Re: Zoo training

Thanks guys yeah i did have a look at that job, im gonna contact them and see what they say

Re: Zoo training
There is a job advert on here for west mids safari park, you could apply or ask for more information from them
Its not good when you find out people you know are pregnant through adverts for a locum

Im not sure how much info they would be able to give you but it is worth a try, their current nurse used to work for our sister practice and moved into it pretty gradually. Lovely animals there though! And you may get to work with us!

Re: Zoo training

There is a job advert on here for west mids safari park, you could apply or ask for more information from them

Re: Zoo training
