I started as locum just after qualifying and have never looked back - you will great! I've just started with the PDSA and they are a great company to work with, they are used to having locums in so will have everything in place to help you out! Hope all is going well x x x

I work for PDSA and I can say its great - I love it.

If you are on wards I would say its kennels. I am on kennels this week, we have a 5 week rotation rota.

Kennels normally involves liasing/communicating with the vet in charge of the case regarding treatment plans, you would be responsible for medicating the in-patients and generally looking after, reporting to vet etc. If I am not busy in kennels, I would x-ray, bandage change, basically any nurse procedures that can be done.

The best of luck - I was at a recent training day in Shamrock street and it was a very nice hospital.

Its PDSA in Glasgow. Its really scary having only ever worked in 1 practice before!

i did a locum stint for pd and loved it i wanted to stay! i did mainly theatre shifts when i was there with some ward stuff. they were used to having locums so dont worry. have a good nosey around. and they have sop/protocols for everything so dont worry

ps the vets i worked with also helped out with nursing duties everyone worked as a team!

You'll love it!

as Caro says, hunt in the cupboards and find where things are kept.

They'll be understanding that you're a locum and you won't know where things are, how things work etc.

Good Luck! My first locum place was at PDSA too! Busy place but very interesting and staff were all nice which helps
