I asked him to explain a bit more and his friend has a elderly golden retriever who is off it's hing legs and has no feeling in them. The vet has told them the dog needs to be pts but the owner is refusing

Re: Sometimes I just want to shout at clients!

Yeah that's an idea. We've not seen the dog so don't know why it's gone off it's legs but I suppose I could suggest that to him. Thanks!

Re: Sometimes I just want to shout at clients!

what about suggesting k9 carts? Ive seen a few dogs with these that are paralysed on their back ends. Mainly young dogs dachsies with slipped discs etc but they are made to fit each dog and might be better than a sling?

I just know that seeing my dog in that situation would break my heart.

Oooo yeah maybe I will talk about flystrike to him. I just feel so sorry for the poor dog

Re: Sometimes I just want to shout at clients!

I'm not defending him by any means but, having just had to make that decision myself, it's always very clear when an animal should be PTS except when it's yours.

Maybe tell them of the joys of flystrike now summer is on its way?

Re: Sometimes I just want to shout at clients!

Difficult isn't it Poor dog, hope they make the right decision soon.
