one of my cats is with petplan and weve made quite a few claims for him over the yrs and ive never had any problems with them, it does go up each yr but not loads, i pay about an extra £1 a month every yr, hes now coming up for 8 yrs old and its about £11 a month, one of my dogs is with tesco, (touch wood) i havent had to claim with them yet so cant really say too much about them!

I pay £14 a month with pet plan for my 8 year old crossbreed terrier with veterinary discount. Never claimed.

£38 is silly money!!! Jack is registered as a SBT cross (we're not sure what he is crossed with, was a stray, but not 100% SBT), he's 2-3 years old (estimated) and i pay £15.93 per month. Why on earth are they quoting that much?! I know it varies on postcode, but surely shouldn't go THAT high?

I have always been a real pet plan fan, my cats are insured with them. However my friend went to insure her dog with them, its a little terrier cross breed thing and they quoted £38 a month!! For a pup? This was their basic for life policy. She could have had a per condition policy which expires a year after the condition starts for £14 a month but i didnt see the point of that.

Now my cats policys have increased steadily every year throughout their lives dispite never making a claim so im now paying double when i took out the policy and they are only 8 years old.

So does that mean when the pup turns 8 she will be paying almost £80 a month for the dog insurance??

I just thought £38 a month was really expensive for a new pup insurance. I know you get what you pay for and they are good but if you compare it to m&s and more than whos quotes were £12 and £13 a month its a hell of alot more. Also pet plans basic policy only gives you £4000 per year compared to m & s is £7000 or something per year.

Anyway i was just shocked at how expensive they were and did question whether it was really worth the money?

My sisters cats are with m & s...wonder if she'll get the same £5 increase (one male, one female). I will only ever use Petplan...true piece of mind! Might be making my first claim soon for Jacks cut pad!

Are they assuming youe male cat is not neutered? Otherwise the 'wandering off and fighting' argument holds absolutely no water, all of my cats are neutered and the male one is the least likely to do that but the females are all a bit feisty!

I had no complaints when i claimed from M&S they were excellent, they paid my rather large bill for Tara, within a week. Its just now they are getting really silly with the premiums especially with the male cat thing. will change to Petplan

They (M&S) have just put my dogs insurance up by nearly £5 last month... she is 3 and a half, have had her insured with them since she was 8 wks old and have only ever made 1 claim when she was under a year for V and D. They also changed the rules and regs a bit as well.... have to make a claim within a certain amt of time from the 1st symptoms etc... so read your small print carefully

FLUTD was all i could think of, but that really can't justify a £5 per month difference in premiums can it??

If that is the case then to reflect the premiums approx 1/3 of the cats we see in practice must have FLUTD??? Anyway i am going to change insurance companies!

I did think of mentioning that they were sexist!!!!!!

Marks and Spencers as i insured them years ago when they had a zero excess and really good cover (they were exceptionally good when my dog was treated for osteosarcoma a few years ago with zero excess and i had no problems claiming large amount and for ongoing holistic care, since changed dogs insurance as premium went up from £16 to £38 in one year and from zero to 75 excess) There was a few pence difference last year in M and F cat policies but i didn't query that for the sake of a few pence but £5 difference seems ridiculous.......i will change to different company but i just wondered if anyone else thought that this seems crazy?!!
