Just want to pick the brains of those familiar with using DAP spray. I want to try it with my own dog who is a happy boy indoors but gets a little stressed with the outside world. I would like to use the spray, I have tried the collars but

Re: DAP Spray

That is the same reason that i started using the spray, it works for my dog so i will continue with it

Re: DAP Spray

Thats interesting thanks for letting me know.

I'm still pondering if I should use it. I was trying to be cost effective and thought the spray could be used when needed rather that using a collar as he doesn't need it all the time.

Re: DAP Spray

I use the DAP spray on a bandana for my boy Rottie before training, it works really well and i notice a huge difference if he doesn't have it on. I spray 2 bandana's 15 mins before i go and i put one on him and the other in a sealed plastic bag to swap over half way through training. I find he concentrates more and is just generally calmer

Re: DAP Spray

I used DAP spray when I first got my puppy to get her used to her new sleeping area - not the same scenario, I know but I wanted to let you know that it worked really well. She was noticably more happy when left alone in the bed when it has been spritzed with DAP but it would wear off after a few hours (hence, as I was in a home environment I switched to the plug in). Good luck!

Re: DAP Spray

Have you every thought about using any other products besides DAP such as Zylkene?
Thanks that would be great, any info would be good. I thought the spray might be worth a go purely because he only really needs it when he is outdoors, he is very content the rest of the time so wouldn't always need the collar?

Re: DAP Spray

I would always rather use a collar. If you are having problems I would call and ask for a replacement. Its company policy that the product be replaced if there are any issues.

I'm afraid I can't really give you a deffinative answer. In theraory it should certainly help, but remember the spray will only last 2-3 hours and you will need to leave 15 min before putting the sprayed bandanor around the dogs neck.

So am I right in thinking that the spray might not be the best option, I am going through training techniques as advised to make him more confident outdoors but thought the spray might be worth a go?

Re: DAP Spray

Yes, of course.

Spray to help dogs with travel fears, but I have also heard of it being used for puppy parties or at dog shows. Gwen Bailey used it for some time in her classes before the collar came out. She might be a good person to ask.

On a slightly different note I have also just written a book detailing all 31 trails which have been published looking at the practical application of pheromones. This is being printed at the moment, but if you are interested I would be happy to send you one.
