LOL!

Go to 'save as' and select 'rtf' from the drop down list.

no it wont work

If I click open, it opens in microsoft word, but wont let me do anything with it and if I try and copy it - it wont let me!

OOhh! Guys be careful what you are posting in an open forum! These threads come up on google searches, and its easy to join here!

Anyway, I use Microsoft Office on my PC which it came with, and StarOffice on my lappy, which is a free program from the OU from the days when I was studying with them. If I need to convert, I save the StarOffice file in rich text format, email it to myself, and Microsoft Office will open it

when u click the attachment i usually says save as and u can save it as an open office document!!

I personally cnt stand open office does my head in!!

thanks for that Ruaraidh, I did try that today, but if I have any attachments to emails which I want to download, they are normally in microsoft so I cant download? or am I doing something wrong?

It's almost identical in terms of usability. Many find it as good, if not better than Microsoft Office.

google free downloads microsoft office and you should find a site where you can get it for free, thats what i did but i cant remember the site i got it from

If you know someone who has a 'legit' copy of it... put it onto your PC, then when it wants the activation code, call Microsoft and say your PC had a problem and you had to format it all, so have had to re-install it. They should then give you a valid activation code.

The other option is if you are, or if you know, a student, you can get a cheap copy of office (£40or so I think) from tinterweb http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-uk/default.aspx

if you do happen to buy it from ebay or amazon be careful as it may seem legit but you wont be able to register it and it will then become an illegal copy even after paying all that money, if your going to buy it your better off buying it straight from pc shops or internet stores which microsoft have partnered with!

ermmm well this is ilegal so maybe i should shh nw but er well basically i got mine from megadownload for free, i refuse to pay the price for it!!!

But am sure you can get it from amazon or tht but it aint cheap!! Open Office is a free package but its nt tht great
