i was in a similar situation starting level 2, different i know but i wasn't able to start mine until middle of november - whereas all my college classmates had started by the time our college course began (start of september). however completed 69% now so hopefully on the way to completing it before exams in july, fingers crossed! i'm sure you'll do it

Thankyou so much for the info and advice. I think i panic sometimes because Its so much to do in so little time (april tomorrow!!!)

It can be done if you work hard and get an assessor on board pretty quickly!! If you can't get an assessor your IV may come out and assess you but would charge the practice. Just check you dont have to complete a set number of weeks training before you can claim for certification too.
Re the changes to training- if you have already started level 3 then you wont have to change to the new structure, think you have until 2012 or 13 to complete your level 3.

I want to get my portfolio completed by september so I can sit my practicals in december because my assesser said it may take me a long time to complete otherwise because of the changes they are making to the course.... Maybe i have to just wait and see???

I trained in New Zealand and had my qualification assessed by RCVS and have a certificate to say Im level 2 equivelent so I went straight onto level 3. The portfoilio is all new to me! My assesser has signed off the case logs I have written so far and says Iv made a good start ( I wish she wasnt leaving next week )

Have you got your level 2 certificate already to enable you to work through cases/have cases signed off? Do you need anything sending through as normally you'd just carry on with your portfolio once you've got your certificate?

As a glimmer of hope I completed my level 3 portfolio in just under 7 months and then when it comes to practical exams you can get anyone to test you as the requirements are all written down!!

I think...correct me if I'm wrong but I was lead to believe there is a minimum amount of time in which the portfolio can be completed by so if it was completed in less time than they could not write it off?
