I was caught out by a need to have the last piece of evidence in each unit dated within a certain period of submission- 18 months.

It didn't help me that the college took six months over IV-ing a portfolio (among many other problems) and kept insisting everything was fine when it clearly wasn't. They took so long changing their minds about what evidence was good enough that the entire syllabus expired! 9 wasted years!

You might want to have a chat to your college/ uni and make sure whether this 18 month thing does/ doesn't actually exist. I would hate for other people to end up in my situation.

Re: Time limit on completing NVQ?

Thanks Sharon. That's a relief. I thought I might have to do a GCSE maths course. There is a rule with regards to various funding organisations that require you to complete Key Skills as part of your VN award, but you are exempt from this if you took your maths within the last 5 years. You will usually have started your college course by this time anyway.
This ruling wont have an effect on your RCVS enrolment - you would just reapply, giving your old enrolment number and they transfer it accordingly (for a fee of course) but hopefully, you wont have to do any of this. Speak to the RCVS to clarify.

Re: Time limit on completing NVQ?

Hi again. Thanks. I actually enrolled in April 2005 as I expected to start the level 2 in the Summer of 2005. Unfortunately. I couldn't find a placement until 2007. If I have to enrol again and start all over again, will I have to do another maths qualification? I am 43 and passed my maths O level in 1982! I read somewhere that you have to have passed maths within the last 5 years. To clarify things, do I therefore have to have finished everything by April 2010 to avoid having to reenrol? Thanks again.

Re: Time limit on completing NVQ?

[quote user="Sue C"]

I haven't managed to get another placement or vacancy yet to do any more. Is there a time limit on when you have to pass and complete everything (ie levels 2 and 3)? Will I have to start again after this time interval? Thanks!

Your enrolment is valid for 5 years, you can re-enrol after this period, but you have to pay again.
