Hi, Im looking for help

My student and I are a little suck trying to cover Vetn 3.1 replacing bandages and dressings. We dont do a lot of bandaging in the first place and very rarely keep animals in if we do. my student has helped with bandaging in other cases ie first aid and vetN 2.

Would this be possible to do as transferable skill? although she has not be replaced, she has just applied. in my head the same principles apply. just wanted your thoughts on it

[/quote]

if you feel that the student has used exactly the same skills, then it is transferable. just write it up and add one or two relative questions to prove the students knowledge on why dressings are replaced.

with mine, i assisted a vet applying a tail bandage after having tip amputated, and then i re-applied it again under supervision of my assessor cos the dog flicked it off during recovery from its GA, i then re-applied it AGAIN 2 days later for post op check, lol. (At least my bandage lasted 2 days, haha) lol.

Re: Portfolio - VetN 3.1 bandaging

We got round the replacement of bandages by getting the SVN to reapply a dressing on a cat that was on iv fluids. SVNs weren't able to apply bandages during nurse clinics so was able to use it this way. If you can't do it as this you should be able to do it as a transferable skill with additional questions if needed.
