Rachel, that point is totally irrevelant, as Carolyn said, if you don't have the money then you priortise. Take it from someone who has been there - only a lot worse than your situation I may add and that is along with 2 children, mortgage, car, fuel, groceries etc etc. I prioritised, I had no choice.

surely ur man will understand the situation. undoubtably when my money is tight the bills flood in but u just got to cut back/prioritise.

I do not bother with birthdays and quite frankly they are not importaint and if money is tight then that should be the first out of the window.

The weekly allowance is £75.40!! am about £200 down on my normal monthly salary & have a boiler repair, car mot & service & my husband's & sister's birthdays to pay for this month!!!

Really sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I have claimed SSP before and this is how it works:

Doesn't kick in until been off for more than 7 days so you will only get three days money if been off for ten days. I claimed a couple of years ago so might have gone up (a little) but I got approx. £12 a day. It is a fixed amount set by the government unless you have a sick pay policy from your employer who might do it differently.

Don't spend it all at once!!
