Now its such a grey area, what defines schedule 3?
We dont do anything like castrates or lumpectomies at my current practice and its not something I feel particularly comfortable doing. I'd rather stick to what I know! I just didn't want to tick the box and then be expected to do these things!

I also found it confusing as they listed things like placing catheters too but surely that falls into schedule 3?

Re: Schedule 3

Also fotgot to say cat castrates aren't allowed to be done by VNs, its not schedule 3 as you enter a body cavity.

Re: Schedule 3

Cat Castrations are not allowed you would indirectly enter the inguinal canal.
Aural haematoma repairs, lumpectomys, dental scale and polish, tail amputation, placing IV catheters

?toe amputation?

Re: Schedule 3

Is this for Rig? Their form is a bit vague! Placing catheters etc are all schedule 3, and others like lumpectomies are dependant upon the practice and your own training/knowledge (I did work at the PDSA through Rig and was told by them that I wouldn't be expected to do lump removals/ tail tip amps which their nurses do, but other schedule 3 would be carried out). For dentals it just means scale and polish as we can't extract unless the tooth is so loose it can be removed with your fingers.

Hope this helps!
