Our centre is a reasonable size, though there are many bigger centres. I plan to see the mum and pups again on tuesday and I will keep in contact with the owner about rehoming the pups also.

I have no doubt she is a good owner and loves her dog, but I remember many years ago the trouble I had rehoming 11 German SH Pointer cross pups to good homes after I took Rosie on as a rescue while she was already pregnant. And, I had a lot of help in the rehoming process as my friend runs a rescue shelter and also with my contact through work, we did manage to rehome them all sucessfully.

Re: Caesarians

Forgot to add, hope the mum and pups are okay when they are rechecked next week.
The owner said to me today - and maybe someone can confirm or deny - if you contact Dogs Trust when you know your dog is pregnant and it wasnt a planned mating, and you simply cannot keep these pups, that Dogs Trust will take them off your hands when they are 8 weeks old?
Depends on how big the centre is to deal with puppy litters but the centre I worked at was usually able to take these puppies in. Pups are always rehomed quicker than older dogs so more litters could be helped if there were unplanned matings. Hopefully your pups from today will be able to be rehomed through Dogs Trust instead.

Re: Caesarians
Awww Iove caesarians!!! funnily enough we had one in last sat with only one nurse - wasn't me working though :( .. I missed it.. and it was a bulldog!!

I love assisting with caesarians as well!! Sometimes I worry though, just like today, when the pups are all crossbreed. I just worry about things like will they get homes, will the owners be able to cope etc etc, especially as our little girl today wasnt a planned mating.

I would have my doubts about such a thing, but the owner was adamant. Dont think she got this information from Dogs Trust though......

Re: Caesarians

Awww Iove caesarians!!! funnily enough we had one in last sat with only one nurse - wasn't me working though :( ..
