Even B agreed it was nice. It did take longer than 10mins to cook though was about 30 and the chips were cold but thats a par for me nothing l cook can be perfect.

Attempting the pip dish. Thing is have it all pre cook and chips just gone in and will take 30mins hope it dont go mushy l just shouldnt be let loose in a kitchen this is all Sals fault l got to adventurous

glad u gave us the recipe coz sounds fab, and i was worried when i saw the word pipistrelle, is that not a bat?! any way sounds far nicer than cooked bat! lol!

sounds yummy apart from the eggs - can't stand eggs! i'm guessing it would just be cheesy rice without them though?

is actually called piperade (or it was by the Italian who showed me how to make it)

take 3 or 4 eggs

1 boil in the bag rice (I am saying boil in the bag because it gives you an idea of quantity) this is long grain rice

approx 1/4 pint of milk

around 3 oz of grated cheese (good mature cheese is best)

cook the rice and let it cool. MAKE SURE IT IS COOL or the rest is a waste of time.

beat the eggs.

add the milk to the rice in an ovenproof dish

add the cheese

add the eggs an make sure well mixed

now you have a choice

cook for 10 -12 mins on full power in the microwave (this is a 750w microwave). Remove and brown under the grill for a few minutes

bake in a hot oven for 30 mins keeping the top covered and remove the cover for the last 10 mins so it gets chance to brown (40 mins total)

This recipe can also be found on the frugal living thread - is just a cheeesy ricepudding sort of thing. If you do it with rissotto or arborio rice then you dont actually see the grains depends if you want it coarse or smooth. I like it coarse
