Most stuff found in NOAH or can be found on internet or from the drug companies. (Don't forget your lab chemicals and disinfectants).

It doesn't have to be all printed out - it can be on computer or memory stick, as long as you do a SWP on how to access it from the computer.

Some companies won't release the necessary info because they don't think this bit of the regulations applied to veterinary stuff - these companies issued me with a letter stating this which i put in the front of the folder and had to just use data sheet for risk assessment. Some companies were very helpful - Fort Dodge and Alstoe in particular.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Re: coshh

When I did them for my last practice, I did as Carol mentioned except the practice wanted sheets doing for every drug on the premises whether they had harmful potential or not. Took ages to do but once its done they only need updating periodically so not as much work after that. NVS have a data system where you can sign up and have access to data sheets (in more detail than the compendium) so you may be able to use those and then just add whichever drugs aren't included on there.

Good Luck!

Re: coshh

Hi Katie,

If you let me have your email address I can give you an idea of what I do (Not saying it's perfect but it could be a starting place!)

I do assess every substance that comes into the building but obviously they don't all have to have a work procedure - only if they have a potential to be hazardous to health.

Many of the drugs already have all the information in the NOAH data sheets, any that haven't that I may need I either look in the Internet or contact the drug company,

Best wishes
