When pigs are brought in to us to have nail clips they often has quite curly nails going in different directions. I always thought they'd always been like that on those pigs.
My pigs were on muesli (when i got them i was blissfully unaware of how rubbish it is!) but then got them onto Burgess, luckily they changed easily. Burgess now do a blackcurrant and oregano food, my pigs LOVE it! Have to make sure i don't give them too much! They also love their Excel herbage though and get through a big pile each day

Mine are in garden in the summer, in a hutch overnight with shavings and hay and a big grass run during the day. They've got a run attached to their hutch, which in on patio slabs...but they refuse to go in it!!! They're in a massive indoor cage in the winter, with shavings and hay.

Re: Guinea pig claws

Vicky, they were kind of free range in the garden (it was spring/summer) in a big run (-grass/dirt) and had newspaper and hay at bedtime in their hutch. They also had a big change in diet from muesli mix and just carrots and brocolli to lots of different veg and grass with a bit of orange packet pig food (it has a name but i can't remember ?Burgess). Its taken ages to get them off the muesli and they still would prefer to eat that i think!

They had a few bricks to climb on and a wooden house in the run. They just seemed to sit and eat though!!
