Had a wicked time, only ended up spending 1 day in edinburgh as we weren't staying as close as we thought.
Did park and ride so didn't have to worry about driving round. Walked round most of Edinburgh, went in the camera obscura, walked up to the castle (didnt go in) and went on a tour of Mary King's close. Inbetween we had a lovely lunch in the hub cafe and made stops for beer and tea! Met a really crazy old man on the royal mile who was scaring all the tourists, including me!!
Stopped at a chip shop for tea but was slightly worried they had deep fried pizzas on the menu and other half not keen on his steak pie which was also deep fried
Spent sunday on the lodge site swimming, and chilling in the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi.

Had a brilliant weekend and really think Edinburgh is a beautiful place to stay with lots of interesting buildings and history. Will def go back again

I screamed my head off... and for the record I have been to madam tussauds and it had nothing on the Edinburgh one!!!! sawny bean ...woooo!

Oh and David Bann!! Best restaurant ever, it's on St Marys Street, just behind Waverley Station, it's vegetarian and I love it!

I don't think the dungeons are that good so one of the ghost walks or mary kings close would be a better option!

Didnt know that place was still on the go- went there on a school trip many centuries ago.

Whereabouts is it coz I cant remember.

Does anyone remember a waxworksin Edinburgh- like a wee version of madam tussauds? That was another school trip destination.

Other than that find a pub and a have a few and also the shops are not too bad!!

Depends what you like to do really. Loadsa cultural stuff. Climb Arthur's seat (dormant volcano). Free and you can see for miles from the top.

Wooo I'm studying in Edinburgh, love it!

I'd deffo recommend a wander through grassmarket & onto cowgate, there are some great pubs (Biddy Mulligan's has a great atmosphere!) in that area. The Scott Monument is pretty cheap to climb, great views of Edinburgh! I went to the castle a few weeks ago, it was £12 to get in and tbh have seen better castles...I would skip that, maybe go up for a photo or something but it's really not that good! The ghost walks on Royal mile are pretty good though :D

The Stand comedy club is fab! Depends where you want to go really, there's nothing major on at the Playhouse at the minute, just missed Sound of Music and too early for Les mis! Ummm...

The Chanter pub on Bread Street (near Grassmarket) is a fave of mine, cheap and cheerful with a great atmosphere, loads of places to go on Cowgate - if you're up for a night on the town The Hive is the only place to go on a Sat (forget George St!) total cheeeesy music!

Can't think of anything else just now but will let you know :P

Thanks for the suggestions guys, not sure how we are going to fit it all into 2 days though!

We are going friday and coming home monday so will really only have sat and sun to do stuff.

Yes we know that.... because we are Scottish loupy..., and its on tap for us! but Lou is English... and needs to experience a Scottish castle, and its not all bad... some of it is quite enlightening
