I nearly choked as he grabbed me and hauled me back into the room so fast...had me loose so much blood to blood tests l was anaemic l glowed with x rays and was electrified with scans and finally they decided it was gilberts and l was told.. dont worry it wont affect you just yellow eyes. Mind you we do not know much about it.but aggh you will be fine.

I have given blood in the past and they said gilberts was not a problem to that.

Sorry to hear your friends problems l never even realised gs could be a problem l wonder if it could be other causes going on with her. My meds problem l associte with gs is that things like aspirin make me sleepy paracetamol knock me out. Anything with drowsiness a possibility seems to hammer me. I took benylin normal once was out for almost 24 hours. I can take buprophen though with no probs. As to alcohol... forget it l am a cheap night out one half glass wine l am asleep.

Re: Gilbert's Syndrome...

Glad it doesn't affect you Caro. My friend does get really affected by it, she has to be careful what she eats. She's is ok at home with things she's cooked, but has to be very careful when going out for meals. I've seen her reaction to food, it's not nice. She gets really shaky and vomits, not nice for her at all. Incidentally she doesn't get at all yellow. She is allergic to penicillin, we were wondering if maybe that could be to do with it? They have only just discovered it when she's been having problems with food for about 20 years! She wants to find out as much as she can about what foods would cause her problems, so she knows what to avoid. And also if there anything she can eat/do/take to help the condition.

Re: Gilbert's Syndrome...

I have it do not think it affects me other than yellow eyes if tired or stressed (should see them glowing at the moment) and perhaps that is why l am very sensitive to alcohol and medication both tend to knock me out.
