I posted on my facebook status that I couldn't remember the difference between pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics... this was how one of my RVN friends answered! And yes, it actually helps me!

phrin, lets use a creative way to remember which is which; pharmacokinetics is what the body does to a drug: think of the k in the word, k is like a kitkat, when someone eats a kitkat the stomach does stuff to it and eventually it turns into poo - the body affects the kitkat.
pharmacodynamics is what the drug does to the body: think of dynamite, think of exploding poo because someone took a pill that causes d+ by accident - the drug affects the body.

The one at the top - Temporalis - 'Top of a temple'

Masseter - the one in the Middle

The one at the bottom - Digastricus - You DIG in the ground (Bottom)

To work out anaesthetic flow rates...

Our tutor taught us:

When = weight of animal in kg

The = tidal volume in mls/kg (<10kg=15mls/kg and >10mls/kg)

Rain = respiratory rate

Comes=circuit factor (eg. 2.5-3)

so eg:

W=5kg cat

T=15mls/kg

R=15rpm

C=2.5-3 (tpiece)

you just multiply them all together:

5x15x15= 1125 then times circuit factor 1125x2.5= 2812.5mls/hr

1125x3= 3375mls/hr

so this cat would need between 2.8 and 3.3l/min of fresh gas!!

Obviously for practicals do it one thing at a time and include all units!

I knew the FAST LIP one from my national diploma.

And the cranial nerves one i got told but i can never remember the rude one.
I remember it as Oh Oh Oh, To Try And Find A Godly Vicar Around Here.

Also was told on my diploma one for spelling Diarrhoea correctly.
