Thanks for the replies guys, I guess just watch this space!!! I have only been with pet doctors for 3 months, upped sticks and moved to the isle of wight ( a place I always wanted to work).

I think it must vary between differnt areas because nurse clinics were definately not encouraged at my last CVS practice.

I have been working in a CVS practice for 3-4 years and have no problems atall. They are a forward thinking company and we have great support from head office.

When CVS took over they didn't make any major changes. They do have policies to follow which I find are helpful-at least everyone knows what they are doing. Also nurse clinics are encouraged which helps with job satisfaction.

i did work for a practice taken over by cvs and didnt have a problem with them (left for other reasons). i had to complain to regional director regarding in patient care as i wasnt happyh with the standard (wont go in to details), i wouldnt have done this is with previous owners as it was him i was making a a complaint about!! although they do push hills sales which anoys me im a nurse not a rep for hills pet food!!! hope this helps . i think its the way the vet profession is going selling out to the coperates. if you look at other industry they are going the same way.

OMG,

The practice that I currently work for Petdoctors on the isle of wight has just been taken over by CVS. I narrowly missed out on working for them when they took over the VPI group before they went bust (I had quit 6 months before). I was hoping that they would be a good group to work for. I hope its not as bad as these posts say. Is there anyone out there in vetnurse land who IS happy working for CVS?

I can't wait to get out! As soon as my student finishes her portfolio I am going! It pisses me off that they can afford to buy all these practices, but they won't spend any money on their current practices And they are getting rid of staff, we are 3 nurses to 3 vets at the moment, it is ridiculous, especially if one nurse is away or at college!

I work in a CVS practice and I hate it, they definatly do not seem to care about anything but how much money they are making. It makes me sad they seem to be taking over all practices, and I worry that I will never find a job in my area that is not CVS run!

I tend to agree!

I know ppl who have worked for corporates in the past had NVS accounts frozen cos of spend too much, been told not doing enough rads in a month (they got threatened that they would have rad. equipment taken away if not used more)!!

they are better than some of the groups - from experience.

the thing that worries me with large groups tho is that fortunes can change and often very quickly and when it affects a large group it affects a lot of people ( tho cvs is a high flyer at the moment so no worries there for now)

a lot of little practcies near me have been bought by cvs i too find it a little sad
