I'm so confused.
One of our receptionists works

Now we get 5.6weeks (inc bank hols)
As she never works a Monday, does she get the FULL

Re: Calculating holidays - my head hurts

Taken from direct.gov website:

Public and bank holidays

You do not have a statutory right to paid leave on bank and public holidays. If your employer gives paid leave on a bank or public holiday, this can count towards your minimum holiday entitlement. There are eight permanent bank and public holidays in England and Wales (nine in Scotland and ten in Northern Ireland).

If you work on a bank or public holiday, there is no automatic right to an enhanced pay rate. What you get paid depends on your contract of employment.

If you are part time and your employer gives workers additional time off on bank holidays, this should be given pro rata to you as well, even if the bank holiday does not fall on your usual work day.

So this is what I think: if your holiday entitlement (5.6 weeks) includes bank hols then she still is entitled to the 5.6weeks equivalent

If you get BH's as extra to your 5.6 weeks she needs the extra time off pro rata.

Ok I have worked out her hol requirements on hours rather than days as this was easier (working on 25 hours 1 week and 30 the next, this was how I read your first message)

so on average she would work 27.5 hours a week, multiply this by the 5.6 weeks and she is entitled to 154 hours a year or 15.4 days based on her 10 hour days

Hope this helps!!

Here is a stupid question

Most bank hols are monday

so she doesn't work mondays, does she include bank hol monday in her hol entitlement even though she doesn't work mondays?

Sat are included in her salary

Re: Calculating holidays - my head hurts

basically she gets 5.6 of her weeks (ie a 5 day week gets 28 days)

are her saturdays included in her salary or are they paid as overtime? if they are paid as overtime forget these and she would be entitled to 14 days hols

if they are included in salary let me know and i'll work out her entitlement for you
