there was more than 1 thread on this on the old site. you would be surprised how many places have visitors? I started collecting these stories at one time - I have over 40 with view to producing some sort of book or article. Maybe I should pull my finger out now I have the time

A practice I used to work at was haunted. He used to play practical jokes on me and would move things or things would come off shelves behind me - other satff saw this happen too. It was always me he pestered.

Once I spent about 20 mins looking for part of a Ga circuit - then it appeared right the centre of the room. I frequently used to think the vet was shouting me too, then noone there. I used to see him stood in doorways when we were doing out of hours stuff, watching The one day me and vet were struggling with mastiff with a torsion - I said never mind watching you could give us a hand - I didnt see him for about a month after that - think I offended him. Lol! It never bothered me at all, quite miss having a bit of company - no ghosts yet where I work now!

Last night I heard footsteps above my bed (in the loft) then a lot of banging from the loft.

Then both me, my brother and his friend heard voice/noises of what sounded like a little girl on the landing outside both of our bedrooms.

The night before he heard dragging above his bedroom (again, in the loft) and a loud bang and he felt like he was being watched and a patch by the door to his room was FREEZING, but the rest of the house was warm, heating on etc.

I live in a haunted house.

Its not old but was built on a pathway to the grave yard from the asylum down the road.

My mother in-law has seen him and says he is a monk. my 5 year old step daughter quite often talks to him.

My cats sit bolt up right when he comes in to my room even though they appear fast asleep.

I have had single pieces of cat litter thrown from behind me (my back was up against a wall) I told him to stop and he did.

He plays havoc with our electrics though but leaves doors alone thankfully.

Also when all the tv's and radios are off in the house you can hear them having a conversation its like being in another room with the tv on in th lounge can hear them but not what is said.

I like them they dont hurt me or really bother me but as I cant prove they are there as I have never seen them I am more on the side of they are recordings in the electromagnetic field of the buildings rather than ghosts but either way I like them.

Worst exp l had was vet gone to bed me alone huge building. A black cat streaked at 90mph out of critical care ward. My thought was OMG how am l going to catch that... and it dissapeared. I was sooooo angry l cussed for about 20 mins. Was not scared just worried about how l would catch it the speed it was going had l left a door open etc.

Think spirit caught the hint have had no more escaped animals.

I've always lived in old houses and acknowledged another 'house guest', part of the furniture and a reason I wouldn't live in a new house. I'm currently new to a 16th century building, it feels very warm and cosy - not just the heating.! Weirdest thing, my parrot has just started talking in a voice I don't recognise, I've had him 25 years!

Scary stuff!

My mates parents live in a very old creepy house and whenever she had sleepovers I refused to go to the toilet by myself as she had heard children singing nursery rhymes in there! She's also heard footsteps upstairs when no-one else was in and her cello has started playing all by itself! Totally freaks me out!!

A lot of the time all they want is to be acknowledged. I have talked to a few spirits in my time!! I would definitely go to spiritulaist church, helped me alot when I was unsure just to understand the other side, and met some lovely people there too. Give it a try.

Claire, i don't envy you, things like this totally freak me out. A couple of times things noises have happened at work, which i am sure are spirits of dogs. The place has been a vets for many many years, and the building was an old house before, so i would expect something to be there. My uncle was sure they had a spirit in their old house. He was redecorating the house and one of his tools went missing. He searched everywhere and could not find it. He then happened to go up in the loft, and there it was...he'd not been in the loft before it went missing, he was sure he'd left it on the kitchen side. He read that spirits don't like change, and thinks that is why it happened, because of him decorating. The things that have happened to me could probably be explained to not be spirits...but i do believe they exist. One thing at work was sat in reception one morning, all nurses in reception together, no animals in building other than nurses dog in staff room. We heard a dog walking along the corridor, we thought the nurses dog had escaped the staff room so she went to put him back. But he was shut in the staff room. We odd, we all heard it! I try not to think about it when i'm going to be on my own on a night shift

A few years ago i worked in a shop and we had lots of spooky going's on. The ghost there used to leave messages on the calculator, strange symbols and stuff and he used to knock over displays and stock in the stock room. I never saw him, but i felt him there sometimes and i would talk to him and tell him off for knocking things over. Sometimes when i did this i felt like someone was hugging me. It was almost as if he was saying sorry!

my mum's house is 135 years old, i knew of it as a child as it was quite well known in the area for being haunted. we moved there when i was 17, and lots of things have happened, but i have only been truly scared a couple of times. luckily i think whatever it was, was on the whole friendly, and didn't wish us any harm. now my mum is selling as we are all grown up and moved out, and i am soo gutted, because it has honestly been the warmest, most-inviting house i've lived in.

incidentally, be careful if you do decide to research the house history, just that it might spook you more than you already are. i put off doing this while i lived at mum's just because i was worried about finding out stuff...but i mean 135 years old it's bound to have had at least one death there.

I totally believe in these things, I think Caro is right, ask them to stop, tell them they are scaring you, I know it sounds ridiculous but it just might help x

That's my plan tonight. Internet has gone down tonight. My brother has been off today and has found all the old paperwork for the house, previous tenants etc. so we're gonna have a read through all of that tonight.

Thankfully not.

My door was flung open at 4am on Wednesday morning. There was a VERY loud bang last night which felt like something was thrown VERY hard against the landing wall, causing the walls to shake.

Doors have opened/closed by themselves. Taps have turned on on their own.

One of my dogs is suddenly terrified of going into one bedroom (nothing has changed, no bad experience to him in that room).

People have thought they have seen a girl with long dark hair and mistaken her for me several times. I have been on the phone to my brother and a friend who was in my house (seperate incidences) and they hung up because they thought they saw me walk in the room behind them (I was out of the house on both occasions)

There are several 'cold spots' in the room which vary with location. Even when the heating is on.

I remember a few years ago I had my hair cut and I was trying to take a photo using my mobile phone at the time and everytime I took a photo of myself the photo was a complete blur as if I was throwing the phone around, yet if I took photos of anything else in the room the photos were normal without blur. Even a shaky hand couldn't have produced the images that were of 'me' they were as if I was literally waving the camera around.

Shadows have been seen in empty rooms by visitors to the house.

Few other things but these come to mind. It was the bang last night that has really scared us. Was talking to my brother before and we have likened it to the bang on Paranormal Acitivty. It was that loud

I've always been sceptical about paranormal activity and the like but some of the things that have happened, we have struggled to put a logical explanation too.

I would be terrified too...just thinking about it give me goosebumps, like what sort of stuff is happening?? You dont see dead people do you??
