He's never been that keen on my cats (I think he is scared of them) but today they have become fast friends.

He spent most of the morning tormenting (sorry playing ) with them and I think Morris got a bit fed up at one stage because he went behind the sofa. Undeterred B carried on teasing Jasper and all of a sudden Morris reemerged from sofa ambush style and stole the toy. B is well impressed - he admires the intelligence, which is good because I have a nice little cat lined up for him who is desperate for a inside home.

Re: Why?

I totally agree Stuart, sometimes it can go too far and the animal suffers with a poor QOL. You need to admit when it's time, as heart breaking as it can be. Otherwise you are keeping them alive for purely selfish reasons.

Re: Why?

My mum will say to this day that she isn't an animal person... but I know when I had my Sam put to sleep almost 3 years ago she was upset... I don't think you can say you're NOT an animal person... just maybe some people have a better understand of them...

... And then some times even animal people aren't animal people?!?!?! Let me explain lol... When you love an animal unconditionally to the point they become your "baby" and you'd do anything for them.... you get told they have liver failure, kidney failure, DM, urinary and faecally incontenent, having to be syringe fed (for example)... and they still think it's ok to let this animal live... are they to be considered as animal people? Thats just as cruel as shooting them with a BB gun!...

The more you think about that question, in someways the harder it is to answer.... I've never really thought about it from a non-animal persons point of view.... partly because most people I know have animals..... It's the unconditional love ( but they don't see it as love, surely??) or affection.... with cats you know that they can and do, move homes, if they don't find your accomodation suitable, so do we feel honoured(!!!) that they stay with us!

Your dog is a totally different relationship, but still unconditional affection, and just being there, a huge part of your life, a child substitute(?), a people substitute(?), adds fulfilment to your life, enjoyment,....................... the love of my life!!
