I got the job!!!! I have my induction on the 6th of April!!!

I am so happy!!! I can't believe it! A dream come true. I know it is going to be very hard work but I am ready for it! Bring it on!

Had my interview on Wednesday. Just waiting to hear back now. They said I should hear back today but I think it will probably be next week.

I feel like the interview went well. I tried to relax and be myself. I keep thinking of more things I could have said....it's hard to think of everything on the spot but for my first TVN interview I feel it went well.

Fingers crossed I hear back soon. I would be absolutely over joyed if I get it.

They have called one of my references. I think the other might have been in meetings this evening.

I've just been reading it too... It scares me and makes me want to 'get out there and DO IT!' in equal measures!

I've had to push my start date back a week to the 29th of March as I still have to tie off loose ends in my current job (and get my bike serviced and up to scratch for all the commuting) and Medivet have been fine about it which is nice.

Got for it! It would be nice to look back on it I'm sure. You could scribble a few lines in a note book at the end of each day on the commute home.

I have found one other blog so far that has been very insightful.

Got for it! It would be nice to look back on it I'm sure. You could scribble a few lines in a note book at the end of each day on the commute home.

Umm... Lemme think.

From the telephone interview to a call for the 'real' interview was a few days (but with the weekend in the middle.) I had the interview the following week (a wednesday) and was told I'd hear by the friday of the following week (9 days) but it was actually the friday after that, ie, yesterday, that I got the good news, so don't stress too much if you don't hear right away.

I know I cant wait for the opportunity to start training. The pay is low for London but I've worked for less in Admin jobs where I just pushed papers all day.

How long did the hiring process take? From the little telephone interview to scheduling a date for an interview to hearing back?

If your under 22 they only pay 8 or 9 thousand. If you are over 22 they have to pay more close to 13 grand.

At 32 I am a 'grown up' (alledgedly) myself... How do you mean about being paid a bit more for being over 22, is the rate automatically less for 21 and under then? I didn't know that but I suppose there's no reason why I would!

Congrats again you must be so excited!

I was worried I wouldn't get offered an interview or that the position would be offered to someone else because I am over 22 and they have to pay me a bit more. But they seem interested.

They have not asked me about the references yet. I just had a short mini telephone interview and they told me they would contact me with an interview date. I presume that is when they will ask me about my references. I have already asked my references to write up statements and I found my GCSE and Alevel transcripts.

I expected to be waiting for at least a year but your experience has given me confidence. I will be absolutely over the moon if I get it. I have been doing so many things to make my CV more appealing...volunteering and short courses and taster days. I really want this job!

Woo thanks everyone! Diploma pracs, ick I don't know which of us will be more nervous... Right now I feel like if I was a puppy I'd be piddling on the carpet!

I ended up being offered the choice between the North London role I went for and a South London floating nurse role as that suddenly became available, and is much better for me as I live in South London, so I took that one.

I think they probably called you today as the South London role only just came up and while they had decided on two of us for the two roles they had, suddenly they had a third place to fill, so you have some good timing there!

There were no trick questions in the interview or anything and the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. Carina who interviewed me is really nice and did the job herself for ten years so was a good person to meet.

I didn't actually have my GCSE and A level certificates as they were at my parents house and I couldn't get them in time for the interview, but I faxed them through a couple of days later which was fine. They do really need them though, they won't go any further without them so best to start tracking them down now in case you need to apply for replacements.

Also I assume they have asked you to take in two written references too, make sure you have phone numbers for a contact person as I ended up having to phone around madly to find someone in my old company they could call on for some more info.

Thanks all for your well wishes! I am so excited and can't believe it, I had resigned myself to not getting a place for years, particularly with so many practices holding off until the new training system is implemented, and this was the very first role I applied for and my very first interview!

I have gone for the other NW London Float Nurse position they recently advertised and found out today they want to arrange an interview date. Very excited!!

What was your interview like?? Did anything surprise you or was it pretty straight forward?

Did you have to present all your certificates? If so I might need to go through some boxes to find mine.
