Once again I am on the scrounge for ideas. We are looking at expanding our nursing clinics, especially for bunnies/small furries.
What do your practices do????

We have also been looking at our clinics and adjusting what we offer to clients, at present we offer them free monthly puppy/kitten check up to the age of 1 year, weight checks etc, we have recently introduced a senior pet clinic which is going extremely well, the client has a questionare to complete whilst waiting to be seen we do a free urine test and a check over. We did a mail shot to clients and the response has been fantastic.

The PHC course is really useful and the speakers are great at encouraging motivation, building confidence etc, I loved it! Do you give any packs to new pet owners? If so, add a leaflet about nurse clinics and emphasise that they are available to keep pets healthy rather than see only during illness. Even the good owners will want this and I find the keen bunny owners especially so as they are aware of picking up any ill signs quickly.

Re: Clinic ideas

can you maybe think about doing a course like the pet health counsellor course run by Royal Canin (although I think you have to sell a certain amount of their food) or the hills alternative, I'm not sure what it is.

All of our nurses are rota'd to do clinics regularly whether they want to or not! although some are more keen than others

Re: Clinic ideas
i unfortunately dont get huge amounts of support because no one else really 'does' rabbits which I think is an awful phrase because as a vet nurse you should treat all species equally!!!
i have similar probs although my head nurse is very supportive, the other nurses are not interested in doing clinics at all
