We changed from Midshires (great if old and clunky- you couldn't make a mistake it was so simple) to Robovet- its a windows based system so is quite simple if you have basic computer skills and have mouse control

Used a few in my time but I think Teleos would be my fav.

Practice I'm in now used millenum vet- very long winded to get to where you want

Far too complicated to use in my opinion and hard work when yu get new members of staff!

I used this system at my old practice, took a long time to get used to it! Not at all user friendly, rubbish IMO!

We use Jupiter and found it very easy to learn. The only problem we get is it crashes when our internet connection goes, so not a problem with the system at all just the stupid internet! It does run a bit slow sometimes, but again i think this is more of an internet problem. If we have any problems (like someone accidentally deleting the printer from the system, whoops!) the IT people are fab and sort it over the phone by taking over the computer within no time. It fascinates me watching them do stuff on the screen in front of me lol!

we now use VetCom Open, we changed to that June last year... its alright i suppose, lots of clicking submit and going in and out of menus... We did have the old vetcom system with F1, F2 prompts, etc and i found that quite easy to use myself.

I've worked with a few systems briefly, but wondered if any particular one would suit our scenario which is a bit unusual.

we have two vet clinics, and a mobile ambulance. Often the clients are separate and prefer to go to one site, but we do (especially recently) have a number of people who switch between, often in emergencies.
So we need to correlate a database so each site can access all records.
However, the ambulance would only have an offline copy, and probably also the site I work at as there's no broadband (well not without paying for it to be installed etc).

So we need a single computer user at each site, but with the ability to join the databases together on a regular basis - somehow.
we don't need mult-user at each site so it might be three single copies of the product but with the means to merge data regularly (probably by muggins here transferring data via memory stick and merging).

Anyone know of a product that would do this, as we don't need bells and whistles just data storage, pricing, drug stock list ................. no invoicing, no producing letters to send to clients, booster reminder list might be nice, and occasional printing of client history.

oh, and being a charity that is seriously struggling due to the recession - less donations, more animals needing veterinary care where people default on paying, and more animals being dumped onto the sanctuary that is our main business..... we can't afford much.

Have used Teleos and Provet both pretty good, I think I prefer Teleos now though x

I agree

my favourites are teleos, jupiter in that order. Rx works is ok but goes around the houses a bit to get to were you want to go and have to say their tech support is not something they should be proud of - I did seem to spend a lot of time either ringing them or waiting for them to get back to me (and the wait can be a very long time!)

I've used RXworks, VetSolutions, Vetscope and my current practice uses Jupiter. I liked RXworks, and have not had any problems so far with Jupiter. I really didn't like Vetscope as it seemed really backwards and awkward to use, although after 6 months I got the hang of it!

I've used RX works, teleos and jupiter... rx works or teleos were my faves, do not like jupiter, seems badly designed and incredibly long winded compared to the others!

Haha I'm not surprised! Learning different computer systems can take ages when you're changing practices, and this is the only one so far I picked up easily during my first shift!

The practice I'm at at the moment uses EzVet Pro and this is a really simple system to use and from what I gather, rarely misbehaves. Easy to generate reminders, debts etc. Have also used Jupiter and this is a good fairly simple system though we did often have to call the support line for various things (usually in the middle of a busy surgery when the system would crash!)
