In VetN8.2 PC4 'Monitor the animal to detect any potential difficulties'
Potential difficulties include: clinical deterioration, loss of diagnostic quality.
My questions are:
1) Does potential difficulty mean

Re: Portfolio help please!

Thanks for the help, it all makes sense now

Re: Portfolio help please!

for example during myleography and using cistera puncture method the neck is flexed 90 degrees, in some cases this can kink the ET tube causing the patient to cease breathing. the use of capnography will aid you to montior a patient's resp. better. Also patients frequently become disconnected from anaesthestic circuits during a radiographic exam.

and as said before loss of diagnostic quality referrs to producing a non-diagnostic radiography whether it is due to exposure used, processing errors or patient positioning....

Re: Portfolio help please!

Hi

I think I did something like ensured any sand bags used for positioning did not hinder breathing or occlude airways. I think if you can say because you were monitoring the patient closely you moved a sandbag placed across the animals chest maybe pulling a leg back or something?

Loss of diagnostic quality would be a film fault, or not placing the L/R marker so the vet couldn't tell which side was which. Bad settings? Developing problems.

Make sure you have problems that you recognised and then you can mention how you did it differently to cure the problem, they lke that kind of stuff lots, shows you are learning and using your knowledge.

Hope that helps a bit!

Re: Portfolio help please!

Potential difficulties can be your general monitoring, so you could mention about the rebreathing bag on the Tpiece, especially if the patient is being moved around a bit for positioning.

Diagnostic quality would be anything like over/under exposure or development, incorrect positioning etc.

Re: Portfolio help please!

Hey, i think loss of diagnostic quality is like if the exposure isnt correct so u cant get a decent x-ray to diagnose from, or if the leg or whatever isnt in contact with the table or plate therefore there is blurring of the image. As for potential difficulties, i think tht could be used. i cant remember wht i used but i shall check my portfolio photocopy xx
