I have earned £40 per day (and night) house/pet sitting. I arranged with the owner when/if I could leave the house and for how long. I supplied all my own (vegan) food. If I was at work at the practice I'd be earning a lot more that £40 for that many hours. Don't forget you are at the house - and sometimes cannot go out - for 24 hours or more.

I know... i still get sick to my stomach thinking about it. but the woman stayed the the whole time and got us milk and bread when we returned... that was it.

Had we left Trouble on her own with Pheebs they would have pulled all the wallpaper off the walls and turned the place upside down.

Hey,

I used to house/pet sit for my boss.

She had horses, dogs, cats, chickens and sheep. I think i used to get paid roughly £20 per day. I did usually have to get my own food tho but could eat whatever was in the cupboards anyway.

Hi Steph... Thanks... I already use Feliway... good stuff.... and she's met them all at various times as well..... 3 of the 4 are a bit people shy anyway, but they are coming round surprisingly well as they get older... they are now 4, 4 and 3

can't help you on prices as i paid horrible prices for Animal Aunts when we went away for 11 days (£400) ugh... but i will recommend you get some Feliway and if you can get a chance before you go to introduce your friend to your cats so they don't freak out when she comes over. :)

My cat sitter charges £7.50 per visit to stay for up to an hour. Between £7.50- £12 per visit is the norm, at least round here (London) I used to work away a lot so looked into it in depth!

Thanks for all the info so far.... it varies quite alot doesn't it? the nurse is a student nurse so is on student wages and I know she will look after everything really well and I don't want to take advantage of her so you have all given me ideas.......

i do a lot of cat sitting, but not normaly staying just going in once or twice daily. i charge £12.50 per day single visit or £16.50 day 2 visits. i then charge 50p per mile in petrol (one way only) and 50p per cat. i charge per cat as last year i looked after a cattery, where i was told there would only be 5-7 cats and there was 14!! i was late for work everyday and i had to get to cattery at 6am each morning, not good! hope this helps. however when i go away i alsway have friends or relatives coming to stay. i fill up the fridge/freezer full of food and drink, always but them a gift and depandant on the state of my house ( ive had a very bad experience) will give them say £10 per day. non of these people are vet nurses by the way. hope thi helps. x

And sure enough he was, she took him all over the place meeting people and getting lots of attention! She said she took him to a little outside gig type thing, at one point the person who was there to take pics of the band turned around and started taking pics of Jack instead She also took him to a friends BBQ...where he fell into the pond lol, and got covered in green stuff so she had to go home to bath him!!! Her mum and boyf loved him lol!

When i went on holiday for 2 weeks last summer i got a nurse friend to stay at my house and look after Jack. I filled up fridge/freezer so she had plenty of food. I looked around online to see what pet sitters were charging, i think i paid her about £15 per day based on this. She said she didn't want paying because she was doing it as a friend, but i wanted to because i appreciated it and knew Jack would be VERY well looked after

I cat sit for my bosses friend. She's got one cat who just needs feeding, i sleep there because if that cat is left over night she vomits! She leaves me nibbles and a bottle of wine. She's pays me about £8 per day.

i'll be watching this with interest....i'm probably looking to do the same when I go away, get a nurse friend to stay here and feed my pusscats. Sky tv, ps3 & xbox, full fridge and very easy cats....i've no idea what to offer to pay?

hey im not a sitter or anythin but if i got to have a house to myself for a week and was fed as well just for feeding the cats, id be quite happy
