I'd stick to the 'Bible' - BSAVA Textbook of Veterinary Nursing (Lane, Cooper & Turner). It covers the whole syllabus, and I think still will even when the course structure changes. It's fairly pricey though - maybe go for a second hand one on Ebay/Amazon?

Only problem LH is that rcvs doesn't seem able to tell its ar se from it's elbow and until you get into an actual college l wouldn't believe rcvs if they told me it was daytime at 14:00 in the afternoon... unless l looked outside to double check.

we got told yesterday at college by some woman visiting from the rcvs that the syllabus, i.e. what you have to know, occupational standards etc, is gonna pretty much be the same - it'll just be assessment methods that change. so the texts will probably still be useful.

I would be wary buying text books the way the rcvs is screwing training up with this new system. With the cost of them l would wait until you see what is needed.

Im handing my portfolio in for its 30% i/v check next week. Had a quick chat with Louise today making sure what I had done was right.

I do like your idea though get the portfolio finished then study for the real exams.

To be honest, i spend time doing portfolio not revising for the VRQ's. If i spent all my time revising my portfolio wouldn't get done. When portfolio is finished i can then concentrate on exam revision. I can't do everything!

I'm doing some homework at the mo

Motivation is not one of my strong points either.

Mine was good said if I carry on the way I am then I will pass first time. Now Im feeling the pressure as revision is not one of my strong points neither is self motivation.....

If any one feels like giving me a hard time to get me motivated feel free with every thing else going on in my life college days feel like a rest and finding time to do any work outside of work is difficult.

I've got the third edition one, got it years ago when i decided i wanted to be a VN!

Mine always say i need to revise more! Hmmm maybe if i had more time i would!!!

I have the other book u mentioned I really like it. Its the forth edition and was brought for me for passing my ANA.

The biannual reports for us came out today as well Vicky so you may get yours tomorow.

There are a couple of errors with pics in the Aspinal book, one of them is in Julies chapter i think i noticed!

According to Julie at MYF the Aspinal book is in the middle of a re-write. (Julie was re-writing her chapter thats how she knew)

I should say, you don't need both books. I have them both but they cover a lot of the same things. I'd say the 2nd one is more attractive to look at. It includes equine as well if you're interested

There are two vet nursing 'bibles':

Veterinary Nursing by Lane and Cooper

The Complete Textbook of Veterinary Nursing by Aspinall

Both very useful books covering all topics!
