We use medical grade olive oil in our cyclosporin, which we get from centaur. We use the same dilution rate as mentioned by kate, but we dispense 0.5% solution as an alternative to optimmune.

? Issue getting chlorhexidine at the mo. According to dunlops will be out for a while.

We've only recently discovered it. We've normally got a few tubes in stock cos get through a fair bit...then suddenly, none! Not sure if we've had any yet, haven't looked. Will have a look tomorrow.

I didn't know there was a fucithalmic shortage?

There is a Pergolide 1mg shortage too. Can't get from Dunlops or our human medication wholesaler

we now have optimmune coming out of our ears as well. I didn't order until Friday and was told they were still out of stock until March, so I put two on back order.

FIVE turned up today .......
think the boss must have put some on back order too......
methinks some will have to go back as we only have two dogs on it and they collect about once every couple of months!

just had an idea - for arlo probably ....... I know we have a section for medical bits and bobs, but how about a sub-section for drug shortages? or a list for viewing?
the first a lot of us know is when we go to order something, but if we knew a drug was soon to be out of stock we could perhaps re-stock, or not let as much go as we do, or research alternatives.......
so if someone tries to order a drug and are told it is short stocked or not due in for ages - like the above mentioned optimmune or fucithalmic, or like last year's nobivac lepto, then we can all check our suppliers and stock....

we've got loads of tubes of fucithalmic because I ordered, and then forgot I had placed the order!!!! we use NVS so I will ask them tomorrow if they have even more!

If you want a close match to optimmune then you can do 0.2% dose which is 0.2ml neoral and 9.8ml corn oil. (Its always 10ml in total).

is neoral already diluted 10% then, before you dilute with corn oil?

Hi there,

If your making a 1% dose it is 1ml neoral with 9ml corn oil, 2% is 2ml neoral and 8ml corn oil, 3% is 3ml neoral with 7ml corn oil. Those are the strengths we use in our referral practice. Hope this helps.
