Not had any parvo yet! Sure we'll get some soon though

We've been really busy inpatient wise too. A few pancreatitis dogs and RTA's galore!

We have had soooo many cases of confirmed parvo that we had to resort to extreme measures today and close the hospital for any surgical procedures!

We were operating an accident and emergency scenario - however, we were still seeing appointments, but all were told 'if your pet is not vaccinated, enter at your own risk as it is rife at the moment'

I'm in mixed practice so this is always busy time for us but even more so this year - sheep caesarians and prolapses galore! But it is nice to have a bit of variety because it felt like small animals were taking over before Christmas!

Just managing lunch just now after another stupidly busy day!!! What has happened to the quiet January, that we're supposed to get??? Definitely out of recession here!

WEll it's not any quieter my end, I had 10 inpatients last night. 2 diabetics, 1 pancreatitis, 1 painful abdo, 1 Tachycardic dog(eaten something of unknown origin), another with a subligual haematoma, and an enlarged liver and pendulous abdo, 1 with half its face sloughed off after a dog fight, an RTA, with possible fractured hip, A post op phaco dog and a cat with a fractured pelvis! so 9 dogs 1 cat, I was up all night putting drops in the phaco dog and changing beds every 5 mins. I went to bed when I got home and I am just up.All in all a satisfactory night nursing wise.

We had a visiting cardiologist in yesterday too, she done a work up on 2 of our cases(the tachycardic one and another who went home with a 24 hr monitor on. It was very exciting and I learned loads

Does anyone want to come and help me??????? Am supposed to get 2 hours for lunch and I have just sat down for 10 minutes, realised its nearlt opening time again and I haven't done any of the cleaning up from the ops this morning!!! I am pooped!!!

So far today we have done.... 1 dog booster!! And for the rest of the day we have... 1 cat booster! But on the up side the place has never looked so clean! Although we are all high on bleach fumes!

We haven't stopped at all ...... I think I remember one quiet day weeks ago......but tis such a distant memory!! AND I've got one student away at college and the other student has broken her wrist, so I'm all on my lonesome again!!!!

We've been stupidly busy for the last week or so. It's nice to see after being so desperately quiet just after Xmas. Just please clients...form an orderly queue. We will be with you as soon as humanly possible!

Seem to be having a spate of pancreatitis cases. We've picked up about 6 new ones in the last few weeks.

I have to say we have never stopped.......... at all, but this week has been exceptionally manic.. and I am on nights tomorrow, I am just hoping sopme go home! we were up tom 12, down to 7 then back to 11, and when I left tonight we were at 8 I think, but all intensive care!!!!!!!!!!

usually this time of year is quiet isn't it?

at our charity clinic we're also surprised it is busier, as with people on low income they are usually paying off xmas debts before treating their pets.
We're getting a lot of stitch ups for abscesses, claw injuries - a few cat sneezes - and some new heart cases, and a couple of broken bones which we have to refer for xray (which we don't have).
