The vet seems to think it is the dry form of FIP as he has palpated her abdo and cant feel any free fluid and from listening to her chest hes sure shes free from fluid there too. inhouse biochem and haem were pretty unremarkable apart from a raised GLOB and something else which right now i cant rememeber...lol....ALB i think and a mild anaemia.

Im not sure if they have looked at a smear or not but im popping in to see her later so i will ask, they have mentioned sending samples to glasgow...

have they done any ultrasounds to see if there is any free abdominal fluid, or any liver/pancreas probs?

Re: What do i do???

Hi

Sorry to hear about your cat

This is quite a good website regarding FIP and treatment,

Interferon is another road to go down http://www.dr-addie.com/treatment.htm#Interferon

youngish cat - think it was about 5ish presented with jaundice, inappetance and lethargy (was also a really grumpy little bugger but apparently this was normal for him). tested negative for felv/fiv. extremely low pcv. Vet thought FIP was very high on the list of suspects and samples were sent out. In house blood smear showed haemabartinella. Given all the options including referral, Owner wanted to try a blood transfusion which we did - last resort and owner agreed if this didnt work cat must be pts as he was deteriorating whilst we were looking at him and also if FIP came back as a positive the best option was PTS.

Perked up within hours of the blood transfusion and we started tx for the haemabart. Nearly lost him about 3 days post transfusion (FIP came back negative) and again around the 7 day mark. After that he never really looked back.

As I say dont want to build up your hopes but has anybody looked at a smear?

Forgot to add that adbo tap - no fluid, if fluid had been present dont think this would have been attempted
