You now have 2 choices

1 roll over belly up and adopt a defeatist attitude

2 Get right back in there and show them what you are worth and when you resit and pass just show them how wrong they are.

However, the most I've done towards the qualification is 3 month in a TP before they ran short of money.

I love my part time nursing job but it's only a few hours a week. I have just accepted a job in the NHS operating theatre department (waiting for paperwork and CRB check which has taken over a month so far....)
I've also got a work trial as an unqualified VN so might end up in a big quandary.

There's loads of people on here who would love to be in your position to have even taken the exams.

As others have said, take a step back, concentrate on thing at a time (you stil have a few more goes at both exams - or may be able to switch to the new rules?). Even if you never pass, there's loads of unqualfiied jobs out there as many practices don't want to pay much, or can't get QVN's due to the lack of people being able to train/qualify.
If you wanted to stay in the profession I'm sure it won't be difficult - you might be limited to where you go/what you can do like me, but you can still nurse.

Good luck, take a few days to just chill out, unwind and do things you want to do/don't have time/see friends etc, and then let your brain sub-consciously work on for's and against's for carrying on.

Speak to your assessor and ask where they think you are going wrong, how they can help you, get full details of where you failed and then start an action plan, giving yourself time for you, and time for the next tep on the plan....

Re: WHAT AM I GONNA DO NOW!!!

You're so nearly there that I feel it would be a waste for you to give up now. I really do sympathise with you as the marking scheme especially for the practicals doesn't always seem clear with how you can be missed off doing one of the essential criteria.

Have a look through the marking sheets when you get them and see if you failed any of the same tasks as before. If you did, it will be a case of practising lots until the next exams - have others watch and 'exam' you so you are getting different feedback, and try and attend some of the good practical revision days if you haven't been on one.

Once you have qualified none of this will matter, honest. But to have got as far as this and not carry on will be a shame, at least see what your marking sheets say first. As for the legal aspects, you could still carry on as you are but in the next few years things may change so that more attention is paid as to differentiating between qualified and unqualified staff, who knows?

Take a break from studying for now and go out and see friends and have more of a life than students have to resort to when studying! Would definitely recommend carrying on though and picking things up when you feel less fed up.

Good Luck

Re: WHAT AM I GONNA DO NOW!!!

I felt exactly the same way when I failed my pracs - it is an odd situation when you are already doing the job but have not been able to obtain the qualification.

If I were you I would not give up - you have come so far. But I would concentrate on one thing at a time. Take a step back from the practicals as they are the moast stressful and think about retaking your theory. Once you've got that done you can think about preparing for the pracs again and then re booking a retake for them too.
