I am lucky that I have two other nurses from my practice that are on the course too. There are 35 in the class and the teachers make sure we all mix and do group work. We have a web site to use for discussions and downloading the work. The teachers are happy to emailed about anything.

Guys is really handy to have down the road for food and wine in the evenings !

Think we started at the start of September.

Oh dear looks like our year has alot to live up to.

The assignments dont sound too bad. I tarined at myerscough 3 years ago and LOVED IT! apart from the block we were staying in. It was a whitewash building across from the kitchens and was pretty grim and VERY basic! It was where cleaning ladies kept all their stuff too!

Wouldnt mind staying at Guys we ate there several times and meals were Great! Do you get a meal card from college or do you have to buy your own dinners on campus...or do you all go to guys?!

Personally i cant wait. Sooo excited now tho i hope i make freinds quickly when im there....how many are in your class then and do you get to talk to oneanother over the net out of 'school' ? Is there like an online school room to dicuss stuff in?

sarah xxx

p.s im sure you'll get onto 2nd yr...Aparently 100% passed last time!

Re: URGENT! We had to critically appraise a research paper for IT study and research skills. Law and ethics is writing about ethical dilemma, and nursing is designing a care plan, implementing it and then critically apprasing it. Phew.

We went for 3 days in september, a weekend befor christmas, going at the end of this month for a weekend and then last weekend is in april.

Some people stay at Guys, some at a B&B near by and the prem lodge.

Re: URGENT!
And... what dates have you been there?

There is Anatomy and Physiology and nursing care for 2 semesters and then exams for these at the end of the year. Also Law and ethics and research skills one in each of the semesters which are just assessed on the assignments. For all modules there is an assignment to complete. Every Monday you have a lesson posted for each module.

In year 2 (hope I get that far!) you choose 3 out of 5 modules to study and have exams written and practical on all 3. The 5 to choose from are Anaesthesia, Theatre practice, surgical nursing, diagnostic imaging and medical nursing. So it is still possible to take a surgical direction.

To apply for the course we had to write a 500 word essay on self regulation. Makes sure your serious and dedicated !

Hope this helps. Even though it is a huge amount of work and I am terrified of exams in some way I am enjoying it !!

You have 3 exams and and 3 practicals at the end of the year.
