No cos we got conventional and they allowed two nurse to do it for free one of the other nurses wants to do it but they gotta play!

Nick, do you know how much it costs if you use their CR system? I keep meaning to contact them but memory of a goldfish lol

Celtic SMR provide chemicals and film, you get a discount. It's £75 per 6 modules 12 in total. so £150 for the whole year!

no i havent heard of celtic. il google it. have you been on their course? im doing the diploma so will have to fund extra cpd myself is it expensive? thanks nick

I've asked CPD companies to expand on this area and got told not enough places have access so pointless!!! hence my move to the NHS! I'll have more info for you next year!!!

I agree with Saskia, how about something like...Nursing a patient with ____, kidney failure, chest drain, parvovirus, fractured limb, amputation etc, that type of thing, you could talk about all sorts....

good on you Kezza for taking the initiative!

I think a case study would be a great place to start - maybe an animal you were involved with treating intensely in the practice, that was hospitalised for a period of time?

Anyway, sounds a fab idea - well done

I've written a few articles. I would e-mail VNJ and ask them what topics they want covering. They will be able to tell you what they are looking for. They will also help you with the content and setting out the article.

haha I toy with the idea a few times per year and then loose interest

I just really wanted to get a few ideas from peeps on here as to what you all would like to read about. I need a kick up the bum to get me to write. So all suggestions would be very much appreciated. Once I have a few suggestions then I can see if my tiny ickle pea brain posesses the power to articulate the information into a legible piece of reading material lol

VNtimes and VetTimes are always a good starting point. I've always signed up for special features but they're always on the look out for more and will pay reasonably, just cashed a cheque! What interests you, what do you think would be of interest? Doesn't have to be rocket science and sometimes covering and updating the basics is of most interest. What about a case study? Something that went well or sometimes more for a discussion something that didn't - often the most valuable and memorable learning experience. I'm sure there are enough people round here to proof anything you want submitting if you're unsure. I'd encourage everyone to write articles, if anything it re-inforces you own learning of a subject. It's one thing to have it clear in your mind but to be able to explain it to someone else is another thing altogether.

I have written a few articles but not exactly veterinary (well one sort of was - womans magazine article on veterinary nursing). were you thinking technical stuff or just general?
