The head nurse at my practice swears by them. her dog is a pointer x and he is very nervous, you can see a difference in him when he has it on. When it starts wearing off he becomes all jumpy and nervous again. I had one on my labrador around fireworks and me moving out and it put her off her food it was very random. the collar then randomly broke and as soon as she had it off she was eating fine again :s i've had one break, head nurse has had at least 4 break and one of our clients had about 3 break. Ceva replaced them all foc due to a batch problem but they said they couldnt recall them as it wasnt the whole batch apparently (these were all puppy/small dog collars)

DAP only lasts for 4 weeks, although she may be seeing a better effect after wearing it

My boss uses them on her GSD she says they last her about 2-3months and she sees a noticable difference, she says when it is wearing out he becomes extremely aggitated and starts chewing his side, pulling his fur out and he starts ripping his bed up she swears by them!

I used the collar on one of my retired greyhounds - it worked wonders, she stopped her night time 'i'm going to wee in the kitchen 'cos you went upstairs and left me' episodes!

the collars shouldn't break - I had 2 break withn 2 weeks. this was about 2 months ago. I phoned ceva and they told me there is a fault on one of the batches. I sent in the broken ones and they replaced the goods f.o.c

it's a bit naughty that they haven't done a recall

I used one on my dog when we had builders in doing the bathroom - i think it helped, i was worried about him as he's a very nervous dog and doesnt really do strangers, and i was worried he would bark all day at the noise, he wasn't at all bothered by the noises and made friends with the builders (although i think the meat pies the builders shared with him might have helped!)...he has very sensitive skin and i have to be careful what normal collars i put on as lots rub - the DAP didnt rub at all.

He had it on about 4weeks, then some b*stard dog attacked him and i had to take it off because it was covered in blood, i would have liked to have put a new one on then as he was a nervous wreck after being attacked but the wounds wouldnt allow.

id definitely use one again for a predictable upset like the building work, or for a dog who thinks life is out to get it

mind you, doesn't help when the dog is legging it out of the door and you oik it back in by the dap collar..... dont think they were made to stand that!!

i am using one on a rescue dog at the mo, been on 4.5 weeks and have just got another as it seems to be wearing off- he's a nightmare again, really nervy whereas he had started to settle. we have had a problem with the collars breaking- apparently its a manufacturing problem- i phoned ceva and they sent me a new one (had only been on 2 days)

I am also unsure on the effectiveness of the collars, I rehomed a rescue dog who came with a DAP collar. At first he seemed to settle very quickly then after a few months we had some issues so I decided that maybe the collar would help again. I also tried other behaviour therapy and settled really well again. The collar did break after about 2 weeks so I left it off and he has been fine since. Its difficult to tell wether it really made a difference. I personally think that the other behaviour therapy made the difference in this case.

we have a client who uses hem, last for 4 weeks but she has had a few break on her. she has also had an itchy patch but dog with very bad skin anyway, told her to speak to ceva re itch - not found out the outcome.

I'm totally undecided on DAP collars... I have a rescue lab x (15months). When i take her home to my mums (she has 2 gsd's and a collie x) shes very hyper and never stops but not sure if its cause shes excited or stressed. Took her home once with a DAP collar on and it made no difference; yet when i take her to my mates she is normally hyper but when she had the DAP collar on she was much calmer - so it seems to be a bit hit and miss with her!

I use one on Hercules together with Zyklene. I must have the woosiest dog going!!! I can tell when it's wearing off.

I used mine on my westie and no probs. So assume if it didn't irritate their skin any 'normal' dog would be ok lol

I put one on mine, and it dissapeared the first night... never did find it..... didn't even get to see the effect!!
