Thanks Sally, am trying to stay positive as not a huge amount is known about mast cell tumours in cats and thankfully he is insured so can do whatever they want!!!

Ok so it has come back as mast cell

I am taking him in on Tues for his imaging, as I have mum and dad's cat in on Mon....dont think I could cope with both of them on the same day!!!! both cats come back clear and then I can discuss further options with Tux.....not sure if it will be radiotherapy and chemo, just chemo or nothing at all.....need to speak to the oncologists!!!

If it was me I'd go ahead with u/sound and x-rays, just because I'd rather do things sooner rather than later. but that's just me. What does your gut instinct tell you?

ok so histo results came back today his lip was just eosinophilic which it had been in the past which is good

his lump on his side came back as most likely mast cell grade III, which is not so good. they are doing some special staining on it so hopefully should get results back start of next week for that.

My question now is: do i wait for the staining to come back or go ahead and xray/ultrasound on friday? advice at work seems split, some say do it soon others say it wont matter to wait a few days just to make sure we know what we are dealing with. he has a slot for now for fri but i can always shift him to next week.

oh and def wont be getting a kitten if i am putting tux thru chemo cos it wont be fair on him at all

Hope you get good news for Tux.

My elderly tonkinese "jasmine" had a confirmed mast cell tumour removed from her back several months ago,wide and deep excision.Pathology prognosis was encouraging and she is in top form at the moment.

No worries, Tux is now bouncing around like a mad thing, just gotta wait for the histo results now fingers crossed may have them on monday and fingers crossed it isn't mast cell

then i would again cross that bridge when it happens, it was 2 yrs between meg and tux falling in my lap that poly appeared then another 5 yrs before there was a possible new kitten who I would have had if they hadn't found another home for him so odds are it will be a while and then i might think that meg and tux would be too old to accept a new kitten at all.

So if I go off the way I have gained my kittys in the past and wait for them to come to me instead of going out and looking. what will be will be
