Does anyone know of any good learning resources? I am hitting a bit of a wall with just revising from my notes/books... I have tried flashcards/labelling drawings, using the revision guide on this site and it has all been working reasonably

Re: Learning Resources

I have the 300 q&a books find them helpfull as well as Julie Ouston q&a book. I have also put up laminated skeleton pics in the toilet at work with a white board pen so when i got 5 mins I can have a quick go at labling as well as a laminated piece of lined paper for jotting notes on. The toilet seems a strange place but in my practice it is the only place left the clients cant see that isnt prep room of theater.

hope this helps

Maybe sign up for your free trial and see how it goes?! .It was very useful though with good diagrams and videos, everything was explained well. The MCQs were a big help, though the questions I found to be fairly difficult and didn't come across related ones in the RCVS exams, yet they made me think more and get a good understanding. It is costly, and certainly at the time I wouldn't have really been able to afford it, though looking back it would have been a pretty good investment!

Otherwise the 300 Q&A books are really useful, as is getting others to set up questions/scenarios as gets you thinking in a different style.

Good Luck!

Re: Learning Resources

For me revising is easiest done in short pieces even as short as 5mins. If you are focused for a short time you can learn more than an hour distracted/unfocused. In fact your brain works best in short segments.

To help me l do the following:

I like a quiet room with no distractions (music, tv, computers, people)

I read aloud to myself, hearing it somehow sends it in better than just reading. Possibly because 1) you are using 2 senses as opposed to just one - eyes 2) possibly because hearing it sends equates more somehow with learning. 3) Because l find it easier to concentrate if l am reading aloud to learn than just reading where my eyes flick off and get distracted.. l sort of want to listen to what l am on about.
